Tesla Model 3 vs original Mini
Discussion
Here's a thought...
Is the Tesla Model 3 the Mini of the 21st century?
Why I think it may be...
- Based on one man's vision
- Built in response to a fuel crisis
- Great packaging made possible by an innovative drivetrain
- Aimed at the mass market
- Minimalist interior
- Centrally mounted instrument panel
- Looks like a hatchback but has a boot
Any other similarities? Will it be seen as being as big a game-changer as the original Mini?

Build quality is fine now, at the start it wasnt but you know, things change.
Tesla make around 19% profit on each car but they spend more on building up a huge capital intensive business, who knew?
As for crashing yeah there might be parts supply issues, least they crash less than others (see euro ncap tests... and teslas crash data)
as for the mini (original) my brother had one of the last (he is a JLR designer) and was gluing bits back on the day after collection

My p3d is costing $96k vs $162k for the M3 which is slower and will cost 40k in running extra over 6-8 years max.
My word, Rob, you’ve got some nerve accusing others of bullstting............ RobDickinson said:
And yep all the usual tesla/ev haters are in here already with absolutely no bases for their bullst, sales are showing the ICE engine cars are a dead end.
in so much as i think this is the starting point of the switch over from ICE to EV cars, there still going to sell bucket loads of ICE cars for the next 2-5 years Dave Hedgehog said:

Why not stop acting like a big baby, and point out the reasons you do believe the Model 3 is the new Mini. Because I'm not convinced.Sales of ICE cars certainly are far less dead than the EV market.
