Repair/modification to existing home charger.

Anyone done this?
In essence, have a 7kw home charger with tethered type 1 cable on it but about to get EV with type 2 socket.
I know an adapter is available for this but would prefer a new tethered cable given charger will be used daily.
Contacted chargemaster but they wanted upwards of £450 to fit new charging box
Box is British Gas polar type installed 2015 approx
Thanks

You can wire this in yourself if you feel capable, I would.

There is definitely an adaptor available my sister got one when going from the Leaf to the Zoe, I think it was £90.In essence, have a 7kw home charger with tethered type 1 cable on it but about to get EV with type 2 socket.

You might be eligible for a grant for the new charger incl installation. (Apparently you're allowed a max of 2 units per household, which makes sense given its not impossible for there to be 2 EV / PHEVs in one driveway.)
If you're in Scotland speak to jorro.co.uk. I've found them to be very helpful and pragmatic.

This will only apply if you have another/different EV. You can have as many as you need in reality as long as you have enough cars (although your home supply is still the limiting factor).N.
