Partner is looking for insurance for his Zoe with leased batteries. Admiral list on their website that they specifically cover batteries separately but most other insurance providers don't list this.

He's mentioned other Zoe drivers telling people that they have to make sure their insurance company will pay out for the batteries separately when they're leased.

I can't see a reason why they wouldn't - They insure you for your loss, which would include the value of the batteries - And I'm wondering if anyone here is either (a) in the insurance business and can confirm one way or the other, or (b) has a leased battery car and had an issue with a pay out following a write-off.

There don't seem to be any factual statements/stories on this, all just worrying and hearsay!

I'd thought the battery would be covered as part of the vehicle.

LV do a dedicated EV insurance product, from their FAQ...

Will you cover my leased battery if it’s damaged in an accident?
Yes, with LV= electric car insurance, we'll cover your battery even if you're leasing it separately from the car. Please refer to your policy documents for more information.
