Got the new list from leasplan today, for some reason they seem to have removed a lot ot mercs, c and E and GLC etc,
anyway got me thinking about tax, I currently pay just over 700 a month tax on car and fuel for an E diesel.

maybe hybrid, there no 3 series on the list ( despite being 650 a month allowance all in) , or passat or c350 etc.

the outlander is about 340 pm tax falling to 300 next year looks cheap inside and no sat nav
the bmw 225 is about 450 - 500 a month, but looks like a dumpy cheap mini people carrier, I just could not drive one.
Mini my wife hates so much , dont start
Lexus ES300, looks really nice is about 500 a month tax

Funny how I will shop around to save money but seem ok paying 9k a tax and not even question it.

Im wondering is saving 150 a month on the outlander is worth it vs the lexus ( bearing in mind I normally would change a supplier to save 100£ a year on other things. Can I live with 90s looking interior and no satnav seems to total joke, I cant be faffing round fiddllign with phones.

First question is do you really need the fuel card and have you worked out what it really costs?

Second is can you extend your car and get one of the EVs coming next year instead? Then bin the fuel card and save yourself about £300 to £500 on BIK a month.

And are you also forgoing a car allowance for the privilege of paying £700 a month in tax? Take a £750 a month car allowance (£400ish after tax) and the actual cost is more like £1,100 a month. You could probably personally lease an E53 and a Renault Zoe for that wink

Yes I reckon it equals about 1100 a month. But all the private leases have daft tiny mileage on them. I do about 25k a year private mileage
And commuting. Fuel insurance servicing etc come to about 500 a month so that leaves me 600 a month for lease. Hence me looking for a really cheap hybrid option this time. I would rather the company take the risk and do all the payments and pay for all the marks when it get returned.
I've done this for 20 years so it's the first time im questioning the economics of it. So for me it's either a cheap bik hybrid or take the cash. I suppose the motorways are full of new cars and everyone else seems content to pay tax on them, now seems a lot to me.
