Its an old story even though DM have only just caught on

The truth as I see it, its a car with lots of stupid niggles and buggy software releases, but very very rarely does it ever leave you stranded or have a genuine mechanical problem.

I wonder if the results will improve with the release of the Model 3 in the UK...

I'm awaiting a delivery date for mine, hopefully it will be fairly reliable.

Indications are paint and panel fit seem to be better, but you'll still get buggy software cosntantly pushed at you that fixes one thing only to break another - its part of the experience of ownership

Not sure I can put up with that. Will wait to see how the Polestar 2 shapes up.

Seems Tesla have to get these cars out of the factory in less than perfect shape as the business is burning large amounts of cash. They need high sales volume to just survive and life will get more difficult as new entrants scale up production.

It’s a little bit more than niggling things but as has been said nothing at will leave you by the side of the road.

On top of lots of little things I have had the battery have to be sent back to California after a warning triangle appeared. Have had front suspension arms replaced and rear air suspension units replaced on my Dads.

It’s not actually what goes wrong that’s the problem it’s the way they make every issue into a massive pain. To get my front suspension arms fixed I was given the option of them collecting the car in 3 months time or I deliver it myself in a month having to drive 2.5 hours each way. Then taking 10 days to do what should be half a days work. Compare this to my wife’s gold pump failed called up they had it in next day had it fixed the day after no inconvenience at all.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t actually mind if stuff brakes on my car but how they deal with it is what matters to me. Tesla really fail in this department.

On a car that’s supposed to be able to drive itself that’s quiet an issue too....

My Model S is coming up to three years old. In that time it's had one new 12v battery and an adjustment to the driver's door window. The service has been outstanding, always polite and efficient. One time they collected the car and the other time they did the fix while I waited.

Maybe it depends on the fault or service centre but I've had no particular problems with reliability.

Yup, Teslas do have a few niggles, as they are new & complex cars, but so far this thread is mostly showing up that auto-correct is also somewhat flawed by the looks of it! My favourite so far: " my wife’s gold pump failed " laughlaugh

Which service centre do you use?

As a Tesla owner of 2 years, apart from needing one reboot to get Spotify working (had to reboot my Golf in the same time period), we've never had an issue with the software. Although turning off Christmas mode requires a turn off and back on and the bells for indicator noise does get irritating by Christmas Day!

Doesn't it just?!!! On a par with the helepad on the yacht needing new bulbs! laughlaughlaugh

To be fair, it's not been a bad car. Panel fit and external trim fit isn't brilliant (it's pretty poor actually), but as a mode of transportation for six people it's actually great. Range anxiety isn't a thing after a while and it goes like stink.

The only issue in the UK with an X is the sheer size. There's a car park near us that it physically can't enter without folding the mirrors in because it's so wide. Some B roads feel a bit tight as well. I assume FFRR owners and the like have the same issues. It might we'll make way for a slightly smaller EV for these reasons.

I’ve never used it myself but have heard nothing but good reports.
