Thoughts on a Zoe???
Discussion
We have test driven a Tesla S - Too big & expensive, and on the opposite end a smart ForFour, which is too limited in range.
We are thinking of a short term little EV , until things settle in 12-24 months, so the better cars become a little less "new", available and more affordable, so we have a test drive with Renault this weekend, going through Carwow, a new Zoe can be got for £17.5k.
The battery needs to be leased, which is why the car is so cheap(£6k more if owning battery)
We also need the smaller car for the otherhalf's daily commute, with fairly tight parking the other end, hence the smaller car choice.
Apart from the fact that renault have removed the rapid charge option, limiting charge rate to 22kw/h, I'm guessing for when revamped Zoe comes out later in the year, so they use it a a selling point.
We'd be thinking the R110 Signature version.
Any thoughts on this?

They aren't the most popular electric car in Europe for nothing.
They are great cars, look good, no nonsense, you'll get 120-200 miles on a charge, nippy and great around town, they are starting to show their age now and interior quality isn't the greatest but they are well put together.
The Signature model is no longer available and hasn't been for quite a while so look for the S-Edition.
Rapid charging option was dropped as only 4% of ZOE's sold were rapid charge, the issue with rapid charge is you lost 10-15% of range vs non rapid charge and it utilised the older motor, plus how many actually needed that option when the vast majority of ZOE's are used locally.

Had ours three years, and to be honest what was originally purchased as a station car has become our main car. Good small car, well specced and fine enough to drive.
22kW AC charging is probably its main drawback, but as above that’s only really an issue if you do big mileage
ZOE 2 with CCS is supposedly coming later this year, so I would consider waiting unless you get a big discount or a nearly new one
You can hire one on long/medium term from Evezy or one on short term from the ev experience centre in Milton Keynes.

I had one on lease for 2 years / 18k and would have replaced it with another if pricing hadn’t gone bonkers and made it more than an i3 at the time I was changing
Some of the interior was starting to look a bit tired, but it hadn’t put a foot wrong
Battery lease makes used ones look expensive to run in some scenarios and that shows up in residual values a bit
But I’d look at another for sure

I think it'll be next year, likely somepoint end of Q1 maybe early Q2, I'm only basing this on my feelings and past experiences with Renault launches, given we at dealer level are talking about new Clio which is October with training in July and yet we've heard nothing about ZOE. Many thanks for your replies.
Following our visit to the Fully Charged show, talking to various people, such as the Zoe owners club, 2nd hand EV dealers, and others, we have ordered a New Zoe R110i s edition, for delivery toward end of the month.
Really looking forward to getting into EV vehicles.
Our choice is partly influenced by the other half's work place with its tight parking, and her short commute.

Fellow Bournemouth-based person here! Welcome aboard. You'll find you probably won't want an ICE car again!Following our visit to the Fully Charged show, talking to various people, such as the Zoe owners club, 2nd hand EV dealers, and others, we have ordered a New Zoe R110i s edition, for delivery toward end of the month.

There's a few threads on chargers, look at the Zappi, Rolec or PodPoint. Installer wise I used ChargedEV down here which I think farm out to contractors depending on where in the country you are. Also consider if you want to get a tethered or untethered (so you can take the lead with you).
Have you got a Smart meter or on a smart Tariff? Both Bulb and Octopus are good if you're going to charge off peak - www.bulb.me/simonc4582 if you're looking to switch - Bulb do all renewables energy and you'd get £75 credit for using my link (as would I) - switching was remarkably painless.
Cheers

Renault are fitting us a BP chargemaster smart tethered charger, as part of the deal (yes, they claim the £500 grant) should be straight forward as we fitted an armoured cable when the drive was done, instead of our lawn. just waiting for Poole council to do the dropped kerb, in Christchurch, gotta love BCP council! There's a few threads on chargers, look at the Zappi, Rolec or PodPoint. We had smart meters fitted by EON last year, my fixed price contract ends in August, so will be shopping around to bring my KW charge down from its current 14p if possible.
I'll remember your link!

We have a Zoe and do about 1,400 miles a month in it. It has so far been faultless. We're with Green Energy on their TIDE tariff, overnight rate is 7.9p at present, the downside is a peak rate of 26p between 16:00 and 19:00, but this is more than offset by our overnight charging. It works out at about 2.3p per mile.
