Anyone else giving some serious thought to getting one of these ordered?

The "launch edition" isn't going to be a base model (48kWh), and if it's an 82kWh model, then I'm seriously considering getting on the list. Will be seriously torn if it's the 62kWh pack - really want the 300 odd hp and the longer range of the biggest battery.

Not for a launch edition. Smallest battery option could be compelling though depending on price - but then there's a lot of other good potential options on the way too.

My bad; that's rumoured to be output of the ID Crozz and/or Roomz (!!!), due a bit later, sorry. Was extrapolating from them, but you're right, not seen that quoted fro the ID.

Shame biggrin

I've not seen much official on power figures yet. 150kW has been mentioned (200hp), hopefully there will be beefier options at some point.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see how it pans out - what the list price is, what lease deals they feel they can offer, etc.

It's likely to be on my shortlist for a next family car, but hopefully not for a few years.

Will they show what it looks like once the pre-book opens?

I found an article saying it would be revealed in Frankfurt, so I guess you have to like the spy shots and hope for the best smile

They have this theory that it will be "sold by Frankfurt anyway!" which if I was being cynical is a very good way of collecting some revenue ASAP.

The base model (40odd kWh) around 30k Euros, launch edition (62kWh?) more.

On the Fully Charged review a few months ago, the comment was "equivalent to a Diesel Golf" - i.e. a bit more than a petrol, with like-for-like kit.

I'm counting on launch edition being £32k ish (will still complete if less than £35k. Probably)

It took enough nerve for me to pre-order the Polestar 2, having only seen the press event and the Geneva videos/photos. VW must think people are desperate to order a car that's only been seen in spy shots, unless it's a no-deposit reservation.

It's a bit odd to preorder without even seeing it finished.

But it'll be an electric golf not much else to say

True, but;

I've owned 6 VAG products, 4 from brand new, and they have never ever let me down.

The timing is right for a change from my current S5. I don't want to get caught in a huge production delay later on due to demand (40wks for Up GTi's and Polo GTi+'s, last comments I saw). My commute and the packed roads I will be facing for the future do not lend themselves to a large 350hp car - I'm using 20% of it max.

There are a couple of prototype reviews, including a 20min Fully Charged, all of which suggest it is already pretty good.

I want an electric Golf!

Have more faith in VW's production capacity than Tesla's (and I nearly pre-ordered a 3 several years ago - even if I had, then I still wouldn't have one of those!).

Yeah I'm sure it'll be solid the fully charged episode thought so.

As for production vw/audi are really struggling with the etron already let's hope they get supplies sorted out for this

I'm pretty sure I'll be in a model 3 before anyone in UK or nz is in one of these.

It’s battery availability causing production delays. It will take some time for the battery manufacturers to scale up and secure enough raw material to produce a decent sized battery for every production car made.

Now more manufacturers are switching over I would expect lead times to get far worse than we see today.

Yeah thats what I meant, production slowed to a crawl, if they cant get cells for an expensive audi what hope for a lower priced vw?
