New model S P100D ludicrous now £83k!

I know it’s still a hell of a lot, but what a car!

I thought they couldn’t meet demand, why slash the price?

Still as you say, still an awful lot of money.

Demand is Model 3. This is Model S&X.

Don’t know why they’ve done it but who’d buy a standard model now when you can have the rocket-ship for just a bit more.

These things do 0-60 in 2.2secs I think!

So you can now buy a brand new Model X P100D for £90k (with auto pilot) and just looking on AT, the cheapest one on there is £85k for a 2 year old model with 27k on it. Ouch.

I really feel for anyone trying to sell one when the masses learn about this.

How many p100d's in the UK? 250 ish? Probably a market thats tapped out at the old price.

If they make more money on the p100d at current pricing than the standard 100d and sell more of them it'll work out.

not good if you spend 40k more on one last week.>biggrin

Getting people to spend £90k instead of £80k I think that's the idea!!!

The actual production cost difference for Tesla between the P cars and non P cars is essentially a fuse + motor so 4 figure sum at the most, probably three figures. So the profit margins are massive.

The base X had a price of £64k in 2016, if you assume Tesla made money on those cars and battery costs have fallen in the last 3 years, selling one now for £95k is £££££ profit.

People are commenting how Tesla have gone mad with pricing, but just look at the media storm and posts on this 'price drop'. Other manufacturers would love to get this amount of free marketing and psychological perception of a 'bargain'. Even for a 'sale' promotion most other companies have pay for adverts in radio/TV/print, nope Tesla just let's social media do the work for them!!

Tesla have played a master stroke, instead of people talking about all the new EVs in Geneva, it's all about what a great deal a Performance S/X is, which let's not forget are £80k+ and with the right seat options on the X still just shy of £100k.

I was also set to go and look at a Macan, but after Tesla pulled this stunt I found my self doing maths to justify a P100D Model X!! The Tesla marketing team deserves a pat on the back!!

Can anyone remember the last £100k produce been perceived as a great deal??

Its a bit more than that, the P model uses iconel battery connectors etc, no idea what the overall changes are but they are a little deeper than a fuse...

The P Models have always been cash cows, like RS Prosches where you pay more for getting less stuff.

It's not an issue, customers happy with product, great profit margins. Win win situation.

Please do t expect us to take your opinion seriously.

You change your mind with the weather.

You’re going to have M3. Then you're not. Then you are. Then you might be. Then you definitely won’t be.

Then you’re going to have an Audi; or a Porsche. Then you’re not.

Now you’re going to have a MX..................rinse and repeat.

About as rational as Tesla.
