Just interested if anyone has made the switch back and what you went for?

Iv had my 90D Model S for coming up to 3 years, I love it but im not doing the miles I was (or was expecting too really) So its just sat there most days as I ended up based from home.

Keep thinking I could move it on and go for a nice German estate (same age as Tesla) have plenty of change but am i just going to be dissapointed?

Your not doing many miles. And have some money to spend. Something V8 or bigger would sound sensible.

Every few months when I look at how strong used prices are on the X I think about jacking it in for a £500 banger and pocketing the cash.....But as soon as I set out to drive the thing I just cannot help smile, the mortgage can wait.

Still if your not using the car than its pretty pointless having it, as its essentially a massive wedge of cash slowly going down the drain.

I quite like the look of the current V8 stuff Lexus do, the LC500 looks fab. But I suspect watching another wedge of cash deprecated on the driveway isn't what your looking for??

Why must it be an estate? What about a cheap i8, they will be classics some point.

Why not hire something for a couple of days and see how you get on

I went from an i3 to a BMW 340i xdrive estate with a BMW supplied kit which added more power and importantly torque. I did so because I moved to a remote mountain valley and the i3 wouldn't have got over the pass home, especially in the -20 we get this time of the year. My driving also changed from lots of shortish daily drives around the Zurich area to a couple of big drives a month. I also sold at the same time a 13 year old / 300,000 km Subaru Forester which we had kept for long trips at the same time.

In the end it realistically became a question of satisfying my desire for a good amount of torque. It was strange but the feeling of instant acceleration that I had with the i3 was only satisfied with very powerful cars. My current car has 500NM and it felt (totally subjective of course) like I needed to go to this level to have the responsiveness.

I'm reasonably happy with the choice but in truth the 340 doesn't really stand out in any one area. My previous few cars did one thing very well. The i3 was great fun at lowish speeds and in town. The Forester was a total hoot at speed on gravel (which as a country-dweller was almost a daily thing), I had a Lotus before the i3.

If I think back to the cars I tested the car I think might have been a better fit was the latest E Class estate. Here is Switzerland we could get a E400. We could also get it with the traditional Merc grill and raised star and in 'luxury' rather than 'AMG' trim which I thought suited the car well. In the UK I'd be looking at an E43 AMG. The Mercedes rode a lot better than the 3 series and as I spend my life on motorways this, and the automated driving tech, would have been useful.

I've never had a diesel and didn't consider them at all.

I'm planning to swap the BMW for a Taycan as nothing really drives like an EV.

I might do it. I have the i3 with the petrol tank option. Suits me perfectly, however they have stopped making it for the UK and battery only does not apeal.

This is where I am, Iv always wanted a RS Audi so I have been looking at C7 RS6 and B9 RS4.... but sitting in both (especially the 6) is like going back in time.

Also I had a very bad problem with a golf R that I had 4 repeated thefts of in 2 years... the Tesla does not seem to suffer from that
