VOLVO XC60 T8 Twin Engine Automatic
Discussion
Any thoughts on the plug-in hybrid XC90 or XC60?
Anyone know the launch date of the V60 hybrid?
These vehicle don’t appear get much attention in this forum.
I do 20 miles each way and can charge at both ends. So should see a saving. But I am also interested in the performance. Combined 400bhp sounds tempting.

Had the xc60 phev on test drive for 3 days earlier on in the year.
The car was constantly throwing false positives about collisions, consistently when driving past a lay-by on a corner which had a car parked in it.
Interior was nice. Switch gear is ok. Infotainment system was a really horrible touchsceeen with a badly thought out UI.
It drove ok apart from the 18mpg when it was flat. It went flat very quickly - far quicker than my current 330e from what I recall.
I think it only exists for low BIK, or if you’re commuting less than 10 miles a day.

I test drove a fully loaded XC90 T8 with air suspension, 360 camera and a zillion options for a week. It was a lovely car, but unless you do lots of short urban routes where you will charge at each end, I'm not sure I see the point of any PHEV. Bear in mind, the range will drop in the winter.
It's more expensive to buy then either petrol or diesel versions (and more to go wrong if not in warranty)
Yes, 400bhp, rapid in a straight line, but if you use that performance a lot, your electric battery will be used very quickly and once the battery is depleted, then it's just a 2 litre petrol lugging around a heavy SUV with heavy batteries.

Its same cost/cheaper if it's a company car/company scheme. I'm very tempted with the XC90 T8.It's more expensive to buy then either petrol or diesel versions (and more to go wrong if not in warranty)
