Hi all

This is a question for a friend. He has a brand new one of these cars, which charges fine from the wall plug that was included. It also charges fine from the charging station at the local Land Rover dealership.

However at work he has a Rolec charging station and when you plug it in, the light on that goes solid blue (to indicate that a car is plugged in but not charging) and the car dashboard just says "Initialising". He left it all day like this and it stayed the same and didn't charge.

My understanding is that when the car says "Initialising", it's attempting a 'handshaking' process to accept charge. Does anyone have any idea why it's not completing this or how to make it complete it?

Does the Rolec have a socket or a tethered cable?

If it has a socket, connect the lead to the car first then plug in to the Rolec. I’ve had chargers fail to start if you connect the lead to them first.

Try power cycling the Rolec with the lead connected. I assume it works OK with other vehicles?

It has a socket, which we connected to the car first each time we tried it.

What exactly do you mean by power cycling? I’ve tried the test button to flick the little paddles to off and then starting it again

Neither of us have another car to try, unfortunately

Thanks for your thoughts - plugging a car in is new to both of us so we are a little stumped

If anyone was hoping for an update, here it is:

Friend with Tesla came down and plugged in his car with his charging cable. It worked fine.

He then tried the charging cable that came with the Rolex wallpod. Also worked fine.

Plugged the Tesla’s cable into the Range Rover - this also worked fine.

So Rolec will swap the cable and we will hope that that sorts it. If it doesn’t, I guess he’ll have to buy a new cable from somewhere. It seems to work everywhere and with everything other than his car and wallpod
