Hi all

The maximum I can seem to get my i8 is to show a 13 mile range on the battery.

Have used my installed charger at home and the cars charger cable seems to make no difference

Car is a 15 plate done 19k miles

Use is a couple of times a week

Is that range on the guess o meter? If it's like an i3 it's very dependent on your driving style and outside temperature. My i3 can show 80 miles in the summer when charged after a gentle drive back home or, only 50 miles in the middle of winter when I've been driving it like a hooligan.

2015 (65) plate here on 35k miles. Electric range shows approx 13 miles and just does this on a full charge. They we just charge it or switch to Sports mode which charges the battery while you drive...

My understanding was 23 miles which it used to be.

Think its time to ask the dealership,to me this seems to g a drop so soon

The battery has an 8 year warranty so lets find out

I have never seen an i8 (pre-owned) show more than 15 miles on a full charge (pre 2016 cars).

I had my i8 from new, and on delivery it showed something in the region of 18.
That figure instantly started to drop, within a couple of miles it was 14, where it stayed during warmish months, through the winter it was 12/13.

Never were these figures achievable.

New i8 much, much better. Both in claimed range and actual range, a bigger difference than the battery size would suggest.

Mine is a 65/16 21k on the Clock and shows 15 every morning. Kept in a warm garage with a fast wall charger.

Yep, normal.
Drive it like a nun on the day before and it may show 15miles. Switch on EcoPro and you usually get another mile.

Mine (16 plate/5k miles) shows anywhere between 13-18, as above it really depends on how you've driven it on the last run. To test the range fully charge it, reset the trip, hit the edrive button and drive until the engine kicks in. I've done this and seen 16miles.

It's low because you are driving it hard/fast/up hills or in v cold weather.

Slow, smooth driving, levels roads, warm weather all increase range. It's normal.

Just to add to this thread, I took my i8 into BMW for a review of the battery as after I bought it I wanted to check whether the 10-13 miles I was getting was normal.

They say it is, and after research it looks like that is the typical range. One thing that does help is setting the time to depart in your app. It'll prep the batteries, warming them up, then top the range back up again (along with warming the car). Apparently that'll help... probably put 1 mile on the range, but hey ho.

just out of interest, what sort of EV range are owners getting with the gen2 I8 in either the coupe or roadster?
