Hello,

I went forward and performed an LPG conversion to my 1.6 Zafira reg.06 car. I got a job that requires 100 miles commuting every day so the conversion sounded like a no brainer. And honestly it has been so:
I used to make 420miles with £66 and I now do 410 with £30.5. The car seems to run fine but I read some horror stories regarding valves recession etc and I am kinda worried that it is too good to be true. Are there here any people who have experienced any issues with the particular model? Do you think that I should install a valve lubrication system?

Thanks in advance
Yiannis

P.s The conversion costed £1800 which is about typical for Aberdeen.

If it’s a Z16XE-family engine then absolutely yes and I’d be surprised the installer didn’t do it as it’s on PRINS’ list of engines known to suffer valve damage without flashlube.

If not then I’d suggest finding the exact engine code and google it.

Thank you for answering back. I went back to the mechanic and he suggested to introduce some petrol instead of a lubricant. He did this through the EMER application and the car ended up misfiring. So I am back to GAS only and thinking seriously to install something like JLM Valve Saver.

Thank you again

as its lunchtime and I'm having my dinner, thought I'd do the maths.

so

£66 of petrol at 1.15 is 57 litres £5.22 a gal.

is 12.64 gal

is 32.4 mpg previously.

500 miles a week for simplicity: 15.4 g previously £80.38.

gas - 500 miles £35.00 ????

each week you save £45.00.

in 40 weeks, at 500 miles each week you break even.

although a decent diesel would then take say 80 weeks for you to break even- say at 60 mpg. of course you can't convert that engine.
