What is the most cost effective used EV or hybrid. We are looking to get a third car for local work, short runs, shopping ect it would need to be as cheap and reliable as possible. I am also thinking would we be better off with a small petrol such as a C1 for example?

I would say a Toyota Prius with intergalactic mileage. Will be very cheap and should be reliable.

Second choice would be a Honda Insight with high mileage. I think the CVT fluid needs changing regularly, and they have an aux belt like most normal cars which presumably needs replacing at some point, but that's about it. Again they seem to go on forever.

Prius has no gearbox (in the conventional sense) and no belts.

My lightly used Leaf was zero deposit and £136 a month. That’s fairly cheap motoring.
