Hi all,

Just wondering what peoples experiences are getting a charging point installed at a flat? I have dedicated parking however I wouldn't exactly call it close to the main circuit board (~20m away).

Cheers

That's entirely up to your landlord and how big your wallet is.

Yes, proof EVs don't even work as city cars.

Apart from the fact I've done 28k miles in various EVs over the last few years and have run of charge 0 timessmile.

A 16amp socket is enough for overnight charging. Thats essentially a 3 pin extension cable which is needed, there is no need to do any upgrades to the main circuit board - I charged our Tesla off a 3 pin socket for 4 months with no issues.

However convincing the required people for you to run the extension cable will be a different matter.

In years to come EV charger points will become like the flushing toilet. New houses/flats will have them built in, old houses will need them added in, much like all the victorian terraces with downstair loos.

Okay.

Do you live in a tower block with no off road parking?

Stop trolling - it's boring. It's obviously a limitation if you live in a tower block with no off road parking. Not everyone who lives in the city though is in this situation.

I have no offroad parking and cover 12000+ miles per year in EVs. I charge at work every day and at rapids on long journeys. I commute 10 miles from work and have never found the lack of home charger particularly limiting.

I suggest getting in contact with your council regarding the On Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme. There is a lot of money there waiting to be used!
