Recently (well, yesterday) bought a second hand Nissan Leaf (Tekna, 24kWh battery, 3.3kw charger) and now need to get a home charger sorted. Chap I bought it from (Ben @ JustEVs, highly recommended btw) recommended a Chargemaster point. I’m not entirely up on what type of charger a Leaf takes. He’s bundled in a cable that will connect the car to other charging points and the home one, once it’s installed (so I know I need a socket rather than tethered one).

Just wondering if the Chargemaster point they’ve recommended (sorry, not web link, just an email) will fit a BMW i3 or Tesla should I decide to upgrade in future? Anyone know?

And has anyone got a Chargemaster with the telemetry system? Worth it, or gimmick?

How many miles are you doing a day?

My i3 does just 30 a day, so it just charges overnight on cheap rate 'lecy with the std plug in 3kW charger. All did was stick an outside socket on the garage wall.

Generally, 10-15 miles a day, but as I've got no outside plugs anyway, it's just as cheap to get a proper unit, and I don't have to worry about the lead getting stolen/wet, and if I need to I can charge it quickly to go on a longer drive should I need to etc. etc. Also, we have friends with EVs who I'm sure will appreciate being able to top up while they're visiting. Assuming we'll get a reciprocal arrangement at theirs!

Having asked on other forums too, I think I'm going to go with the Chargemaster 7kw with the telemetry. I can get it for under £200 fully installed with a socket so it will apparently fit a Tesla or i3 with their respective cables.
