I bought an Eightball Bigfoot Electric skateboard a while back, haven't used it a great deal, mostly because it must weigh about the same as the moon.

Got it out the shed to sell and surprised at how useless it now is. It's doing everything it should, charged it up for hours but it will now barely move.

Any ideas how I might bring it back from the dead?

Thanks for looking.

If it has lithium batteries and a parasitic drain battery management system, the batteries may have slowly discharged via the BMS until they are well under the minimum voltage to sustain life.

They normally won't recover if that's the case as chemical changes take place which makes them unstable and a potential fire hazard.

What type of batteries/bms does it have?

Thanks, it has Lithium Batteries, no idea about the BMS, it's just the one that came with the skateboard. Data plate says Output DC+36V/A.

Cheers.

If you leave lithium batteries drained it kills them.

That's the thing. Supposed to charge it every 6 months at most, which I have been, just not used for a couple of years. Just a bit surprised I've followed the instructions and it's still died.

Just so we can all have a laugh at what a great investment it was how much did you use it before putting it away?

No more than 5 hours use. Genuinely shocked how big and heavy it was when it arrived.

Saw a review online by someone who ordered one, not happy with the weight of the thing and cost him £200 to send it back.

hehe

Ouch, I'm just as guilty with gadgets sometimes, I've got an attic full of random purchases!

Noooo, so defeatist!

The battery pack will be off-the-shelf or made up of off-the-shelf cells.
Looking at their ebay page Eightball sell replacement battery packs for at least one of their products, might be worth asking them for a price for a replacement for your board. If not, take the battery out (disassemble as necessary) and identify what bits you need.

Or... sell it as is and someone else will do the above and get a great deal on an electric skateboard that can sit in THEIR shed gathering dust instead of yours
