o as you know I have been testing a number of EVs. Today was the Nissan Leaf. 30Kw Tekna spec.

Now for some context I come from driving mainly Mercs and BMWs. My weekend toy is a 911. But you know what ? I really liked the leaf. Okay it doesn't look as good as an i3 but it is much more practical. It is a better city car as well. The Ioniq for all the toys on it doesn't match the drive either.

I think I am a little bit in love.

So here is the million dollar question. When do I buy and what do I buy? You see I could get the 24Kw and it would pass as a replacement to the second car. I have been offered on here a very tempting 2014 Accenta in white. But then I look at the other deal of a 30Kw new one at £219 and I start thinking that it may be a cross over with the main car. Then I wonder if Tekna would add much to the figures......

I wonder if I should hang on for among other things -

The Black Edition
The 40Kw Battery
The number plate change in march
Better deals - because lets face facts. You lot were right to buy when you did and you got cracking deals as a result. Also the deals currently don't appear to be as good as they were even 6 months ago.

My dream I guess would be

Tekna. Gun Metal Grey. 5000 miles a year. Around £200 PM. (yes I know). (anyone getting close will have a deal)

This would then mean that I release the cash I have tied up in 2 of my cars and using it to buy a white Mk7 Golf GTI for some hooning and longer journeys (this is just a given) and having the 911 C4S for weekends. To me this sounds a pretty good "garage".

Help !

I'm just waiting on a "special deal" from the place I got my zoe from, which is due back 2nd Feb. If it is in fact "special" then I might be able to make it even specialer if you wanted one too?? Doesn't hurt to ask.

I've asked for prices on Acenta and Tekna specs for 24 month at 10k per year. Lowest possible deposit. I've made it clear I'll only bite at sub £200/month.

Nissan retail.co.uk are doing the 24kw acenta at 189 deposit 189 per month if you Google it.

Dave - if it is special then I'm in. Cheers.

If you can. Private message me from here and let me know your contact email and number.

I'm expecting him to get back to me tomorrow with some figures. If they are good then I can either pass your details over to him or send you his details.
I will email, txt or give you a ring first to make sure you're ok with me passing on your info.

Got it!! I won't pass your info on without asking you first.

Lets see what he comes back with. To be honest my hopes are not too high as everything seems just a bit too pricey at the minute but you never know.

Anyone else want one??

Sure. My Tekna goes back in March and the 36 x £189 deal is the only thing in the right ballpark.

Man maths is working overboard to justify a lightly used Model S.

He's not got back to me yet.

When (if!!) he does I'll update here and send you a PM.

A bit of a group buy must be incentive enough to sweeten it to the max.

I've also asked a dealer who posts on speakEV if he can get a 24kw tekna under £200/month - he's going to post back tomorrow.

ive have a 24kw tekna leaf since sept 2015. Its a great car, nippy, plenty of kit (i wouldnt go for the lower spec), and always get asked lots of questions.

Got it via carwow, £1500 deposit and £156 a month so a bargain IMO as i was spending £120 a month on petrol in a volvo shed! I wouldnt contemplate buying even nearly new. WBAC valued mine last month at £8k!!! When i hand it back in sept 2017 the finance owed will be £16/17k iirc.... Crazy depreciation!!

Unless you really need a car wait a few month, boss of Nissan is the headline act at CES in Jan 2017. It's likely he will announce the next generation Leaf +/- autonomous driving features. The sunderland plant is apparently already tooled up and producing next gen battery packs, probably at least 40kWh maybe 60kWh so a significant increase in range compared to the current 24/30kWh cars.

Once the new gen Leaf is announced the current cars will plummet in value even more.

This is interesting

I have been toying with replacing my car with a leaf or similar. I didn't realise the new leaf would have that potential step up in battery and range.

However. I don't necessarily NEED that range living where I do, so may be able to drive a good deal on a 30kw car and have that for 2 years until the new ones are more commonplace

Bingo - looking into this more I think you're right. Also the deals are so crap that it pointless buying before Christmas.

Dave

We're on the same "other" forum it would appear. Yes that deal is crap. If it was a 30Kw it would only be marginally better. Someone is taking the Michael imo
