Hello colleagues

This is my first/introductory post here on PH and I am sending you a very electric hello from Switzerland!

I am a 43 years old Swiss car enthusiast with a long history of car adventures. From long-distance-trips to open-road-mechanics, vintage cars and electric vehicles.

My preferences are french makes, I own a small collection of vintage cars from 1924 to 1980 (all french), and I am also a proud owner of a Renault Zoe R240 which I enjoy very much and I try to push it to every possible limit. A few examples:

A deep winter's drive through the Swiss Alps at 7'700 ft above sea level:

Have you ever seen a Renault Zoe with snow chains?
Here's a video set in an enchanted winter wonderland:

An electric long distance trip from the Swiss Alps to Barcelona, Spain:

I have also been to the UK and Ireland with it, so maybe we will even cross paths somewhere in the future, that would be great! (I am also a member of the Renault Zoe Owners Club in the UK)

If you want to follow my adventures, you can always subscribe to my new youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCEPP71wN4Z4NOZQ2...

In the meantime I hope to be able to support this forum with my Zoe-Knowledge and participate actively in your discussions.

Best regards from Switzerland,
delage.

PS: If somebody here does (electric) car videos too, please let me know :-)!

Nice videos, and good to see someone enjoying their electric car as part of a collection with some classics. I have had some really great cars but find our Leaf quite a decent drive in it's own way. As you say in one of your comments, the low centre of gravity gives some quite good handling for what the car is.

Would be great to hear what your other cars are!

Hello Biggles111

Thanks for your reply! I own a 1924 Renault NN, a 1955 Citroën 11 B (Traction Avant), a 1976 Renault 4, a 1978 Alpine Renault A310 and a Renault Espace IV besides the Zoe.

I have never driven the Leaf so far, but read a lot about it, would love to try it once too. As you can see from my classics above the Zoe fits perfectly into the collection, as they have no language issues in the Garage :-) !

My (nearly daily) commute includes two mountain passes, both about 7'700 ft in height, so I can benefit of the maxium of efficiency, as the regeneration is smoothing out the peaks from an economical view. The good torque from virtually zero helps in the hairpins, I can keep up with much stronger cars such as Porsches in the bends, which is great fun! A few days ago, a Porsche driver invited me to coffee on the Berninapass as he couldn't believe that he wasn't able to leave me behind on the bends leading up to the pass... so all in all I became a big fan of the little car, although I love my clasics too, especially the A310 which is also a very fun car to drive on the mountain passes.

Best regards,
delage.

Here's an image of my Zoe besides my A310, two of the most fun cars to drive over mountain passes:

Thanks, that's a really interesting collection! I also have a lot of fun in our EV, people expect it to be slow, but with the instant acceleration and a bit of ability to maintain speed around bends it is certainly possible to 'make progress' in. Enjoy!

Welcome! I suspect that a couple of posts in the Readers Cars section about your older Renault vehicles would be well received!

Hello to you too!

Hello blueAcid

Thanks a million for the warm welcome!

I will try to put up some stuff soon, I am still in the process of figuring out how everything works here. Just discovered that you can put up your virtual garage - very cool!

It is funny that I started my first posting in the EV section - as an EV Driver is a bit difficult to classify as a "Piston"-Head... maybe in a few years this forum will have to be renamed in ac/dc-heads or ampere-heads... but I am a proud member of both worlds anyway ;-)

Cheers,
delage.

Hi, and welcome from Winterthur from an i3 driver.

I'm glad to see you getting over the passes in the Zoe. I agree that an EV makes hairpins fun. Without the range of your Zoe I'm a bit constrained to the greater Zurich / Bodensee region given the lack of DC charging here, especially at convenient locations on / near major routes. I suspect this is one of the reasons that the Telsas are so dominant here in Switzerland. (352 Renault Zoes, 379 i3s, 1125 Model S, 241 Model X this year until end October). Let's pray that Switzerland catches up to places like the NL and the UK soon.

The thing that has surprised me with the i3 is how good it is on snow.
