Hi all,

Currently trying to charge the Zoe and the damn thing will not take a charge at my home chargemaster point. Just says 'ongoing checks' for ages then seems to give up. I've tried everything I can think of included switching the charger off and on again at the fuse box.

Any ideas folks?

Have you tried starting the car as normal, move it back/forth then plug in and cross fingers. Ours has thrown the odd hissy fit and doing that seemed to sort it.

Good shout Dave, I'll try it next time. It's just this minute decided to start charging for no apparent reason (gave up trying a few hours ago but just left it plugged in).

Ours did this, they can be fussy about which end you plug in first if it is not a tethered cable. Its pretty normal, nothing to worry about.

I had a bit of bother with my home charger, gradually it would work one day and then give me a whole load of bother the next. Phoned Polar (?) and they sent someone out. Turned out to be a corroded plug (which I already knew). They fitted a whole new charger. Apparently corroded plugs are a known issue - it's due to the rubber boot / cap not sealing properly.

Sounds like I could have the same problem although it went from working one day to not working the next with no prior issues.

How old was your charger when it failed and did they fix it under warranty or were you charged, if so how much?

PS, Reset mine 2-3 times with no joy frown

My charger was around 13-14 months old at the time and they fixed it under warranty. The replacement chargers come without the rubber boot.

Thanks for your reply and apologies for not responding sooner.

Having some spare time over a weekend I had a fiddle about and after some abusive treatment it started charging so the connector does appear to be the problem.

I sprayed all the terminals with electrical contact cleaner and it worked fine for 2 weeks until last Sunday, it now takes 2-3 goes to get it charging so need to give it another go with the magic can!
