EV + Fun Car - Zoe?
Discussion
I've been toying with the idea of getting an EV for a while.
The plan would be to sell my current car (Audi TTS) and replace it with an everyday EV and a second fun car (probably a Boxster, maybe an Elise, or potentially a classic).
I figure that if I can buy/lease a Zoe or similar for around what I pay in fuel per month (£170 or so) then I could almost save money.
Has anyone done this?
There seem to be some good deals on Zoes but then the battery rental is quite expensive?
Insurance seems a lot too at £350?

That sounds about what I would need. Who is that through?
Is insurance as expensive as it seems?
Looking at some of the offers online, it's the battery rental for 10k miles that gets expensive. With the deposit contributions it seems you can buy the car outright for around £9k, problem is you still pay £100/month for the battery!

I just picked mine up. It's great - I'm paying effectively £4K to rent it for two years then handing it back. 7500 miles per annum. Free wall box too. Insurance was about £250 I think.
Feels like a tall Clio to drive, nippy 0-40 then tapers off up to about 80. I've managed about 75 miles per charge so far, probably could be better if I took more advantage of Eco mode/regeneration etc.
good sized boot and plenty of room in the back for a child seat. Satnav etc is well featured too (TomTom live, Bluetooth etc)
Personally I think EVs are the future. Get a test drive arranged and see how you get on!

I need to have a drive.
I've driven Leafs, iMievs and other EVs and I'm happy with how they drive for daily use.
Commute is about 15 miles each way and I can charge at work (and would get a wall box at home). Most other mileage is fairly local and charging points are plentiful around Milton Keynes so I think the range will be fine for me.

These guys do some of the best deals, and will deliver. £108 deposit and then £203 a month for 10K miles over 24 months. Free charger as well.

My wife's got one on 7500 miles a year and loves it. Ideal as a second car, charge at home, easy.

I actually think it's £100 for car, £75 for battery a month, but yeah.
Don't buy one! Just lease/PCP it
