Mileage extension on Zoe PCP
Discussion
Spoke to Renault Finance today to enquire about extra miles over the agreed number on the original finance agreement.
Originally took car on 9k / yr at £102.93 per month and battery on 7.5k / yr at £50 per month
Excess is 7.5p per mile on each, so 15p per mile overall
To increase battery to 9k, in line with car, would increase battery lease to £87 per month. This can be done up to 3 months before the end of the agreement.
That would work out at 7.4p per mile.
I will enquire again nearer the time, but am leaning towards just letting it run and seeing where I get to when it goes back.

Hang on, that's £37 per month for an extra 125 miles! 30p per mile!Originally took car on 9k / yr at £102.93 per month and battery on 7.5k / yr at £50 per month

It is 3 months @ £37 per month = £111 for 1500 miles extra in total, that is 7.4p per mile. The key to it is this phrase "You can change the mileage and terms of the agreement at any time until 3 months before the end of the hire term."The original battery lease was £50 a month for 7,500 per year = £1200 for 15k miles = 8p per mile. That has now gone up to £80 per month on a 24 month agreement = £1920 or 12.8p per mile
Which is a shame, because that means the battery now costs more than diesel / petrol would on many vehicles

Why would you lease the battery for a different mileage to the car? I've seen this a few times and there is clearly something I'm missing...Originally took car on 9k / yr at £102.93 per month and battery on 7.5k / yr at £50 per month
