In Aberdeen there were quite a few public charging points installed by the council, however they have seemed to sell or lease them to a car club thus reducing the number of points by 50%. Has this happened in your town?

The problem I'm now having is that nearly every point I visit has two car club EV there charging so you can't charge.

Maybe I've just been unlucky, but the past two Saturdays all the points have been taken up by the same cars.

I've asked the council for clarification but I don't expect a response.

I think you will find they have to respond, but the answer will probably make no sense. Non working and full chargers have killed the idea for me, its going back.

While that's frustrating, do you rely on public charging? I use them if it suits me but rarely use them now as I charge at the house. I've seen a few comments recently about 'it's going back' due to charging network etc

Would be good to hear what they say - same is happening in Fife (st Andrews) where I've heard (& seen pics) of the bay's taken up by the EV car club which is bang out of order and will do the opposite of encouraging people to try them out or go EV

So the plot thickens......

I called the car club about 2 of their non EV cars being parked in the charging spots, the guy was really helpful and before I was finished reciting the number plate, he asked if it was Marischal College car park. When I replied it was, he said, the cars in question were council pool cars, and the council had already been informed that they were parked in the wrong place.

I think what has happened is that the council workers who have used the space parked there as there wasn't anywhere else to park.

Hopefully those responsible are paying the same parking fines that any other member of the public would pay. After all ignorance of the rules is no defence.

So I received a response from the council.

The cars were moved from their original location (on the street) to the car park as there was roadworks at their normal parking place.

The cars were then left in the electric bays by mistake. I received an apology from the council. However, I'll be checking this weekend to see if they are free again.
