Model S owners what's your current real world range?
Discussion
Seem to be a few Model S owners on here now!! Just wondered what kind of range you guys are seeing in the current weather?? My Leaf had been able to do 90-100 miles in summer to sometimes now struggling to even manage 60 miles . Just wanted to know how winter weather is affecting the real world range on the S.

With outside temperatures ranging from -2 to +10C and with a full charge - then anything around 200 miles is about what I get with the P90D on minor and A roads where there is a fair amount of stop/start and acceleration/deceleration driving. At a nice steady speed on the motorway it will give more like 250 miles.
I'm sure it would do more, but I don't hang about and also quite like having the heated seats on, heater on, stereo loud, and at this time of year headlights, wipers etc.
I'm hoping for a 10% to with fingers crossed, perhaps as much 15% improvement in range once the outside temperature is nearer 20C although I don't know if that's too much to hope for as I've only had the car since the start of the year!

I'm surprised. I would have expected it to be the other way around with recuperation during braking.I understand that regeneration is not all that efficient - ie, there are significant losses from deceleration and then acceleration compared to steady speed driving (based on comments from i3 owners who seem to understand technical stuff). That probably explains it. Plus I think some heat is generated when you accelerate so here are some losses going on there, too
My P85+ (RWD, single motor) says it will do 235 miles from a full charge at this time of year. I usually charge to around 80-90% to preserve battery life, which gives around 215 miles. I tend to charge up every night if doing anything over 50 mile journeys each day, simply because you should try and keep the battery between 50% and 80% charge to prolong battery life. So I've rarely run it low.
In my experience,it's best to plug it in every night when you get home - that way you wake up with a full charge every morning, and it keeps the battery in the 'sweet spot' in terms of SOC
Having said that, we were in my friends' Model S 85 at the weekend and had an interesting experience: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
