120m range - which car?
Discussion
I do a 120 a day round trip (can't recharge at work). Which car would allow me to get to work and back and recharge overnight?
The journey is a mixture of motorway and country roads often stuck in stop start queuing traffic and would prefer to be able to cruise at fast motorway speeds when possible.
I've considered an i3 Rex but think I'd be topping up with petrol every day. The Tesla would work but the type S is too expensive.

A used Model S is realistically the only EV that can do 200 miles+ of real world range in all road/weather conditions.
There's currently a 12 month old 60kWh version on the Tesla website for £40K. Comes with a 4 year warranty 50,000 miles, and balance of the original remaining 8 year unlimited miles warranty on the motor+battery.

Thanks everyone, there's talk of an updated i3 later this year with extra range. Maybe that will work with the REX for peace of mind.
The Battery only or BEV i3 will be apparently nudging your desired range when it has an update - my REX does this easily with a combination of charges and fill-ups if needed - Pure Electric only may be possible when the battery range is increased.Good Luck
Bear in mind that the range is reduced quite a bit by cold weather - so the bigger range i3 may not manage 120 miles when temps are 5 degrees or less. The best I can get out of mine at the moment is just under 70 miles, which isn't enough for my 77-mile trip (and that's eco pro p+ in both directions with pre-condition before leaving home in the morning). I will be fine in the summer, though. In other words, it would probably still be worth you having rex (as I have - couldn't survive without it)

If you can't stretch to a Tesla, then it will be have to be a range extended PHEV e.g. Outlander, A3 etron, Golf GTE, C350e. There have been some good lease deals on the new BMW 330e which might fit your purpose.
What he said.I'd look further into the Tesla option; I was looking at a new one but ended up getting an 18 month old ex-demo P85+ that was fully loaded and saved myself about £30k in the process. If you get an ex-demo, you still benefit from the Government's EV grant and if you're buying through a company can still claim back the VAT and offset against your corporation tax for 2 years.
I'd recommend looking on the Tesla website and see what they have; I'm not sure what your budget is, but here's a couple of examples:
Ex-demo P85+, £61k: https://www.teslamotors.com/en_GB/models/preowned/...
Used 85, £51k: https://www.teslamotors.com/en_GB/models/preowned/...
The $37000 (pre incentives) 200 mile range Bolt is officially coming to Europe. Tesla is due to announce their cheaper EV end of March, with pre-orders starting 1st of April. The next few years is going to be a much wider range of afforable EVs for the masses. Cannot wait.

I've got the 30kw Leaf and with your type of commute it won't do 120 miles.
My commute is the same distance and I arrive at charge point near work with approx. 40 miles left on a good day. If I put my foot down it's about 30-35 miles remaining.
The new one out sometime next year will be a genuine 150 miles car so they say.
