I heard the £5k subsidy ends at the end of February and assumed it was gone completely.

However, i saw that if you place an order in Feb and take delivery at any point in 2016, you still get the £5k off.

Then i heard (official Mitsubishi post on facebook i think) that the £5k is reducing to £2.5k on orders on or after 01/03/16.

Then today, i had an email from BMW regarding the i3 and seemed to suggest it was going from £5k to £4500 on anything ordered on or after 01/03/16 with a cap on cars of (i think) £60k+ - so no more money off the government on i8s and Tesla Model Ss.

Yup, lease prices at work have gone up to the equivalent of £2500 over the lease period, suggesting they have priced in the subsidy drop for all new orders.

From 1st March plug-in car grants are between £2500 and £4500, depending on the vehicle co2 emissions and the zero-emissions range. Check on gov.uk

As I understand it the March cut-off is order date with a grace period for delivery of up to 9 months. But I maybe wrong.

Yep, as per the link above, all forms need to be completed and received by OLEV by close of business on 29 February. You then have 9 mths to take delivery.
