Under 50 miles on the Zoe
Discussion
I got 56 miles range indicated today but still went 10 miles each way to work, and out locally for lunchtime, and it was showing 9 miles left so the Guess-o-meter is not at all accurate.
There has to be a market for developing a battery warmer. I wondered if putting a 40 watt greenhouse heater under the car would make much difference?

Are you guys using the pre-conditioning?
Been using or demo and getting 70 miles plus, but it's milder down here, haven't seen any minus temps yet!
Yes I use it every morning and think that is what I get a hit on range but it's not a lot to be honest.Been using or demo and getting 70 miles plus, but it's milder down here, haven't seen any minus temps yet!

So how much does it cost to fully charge your Zoe?
Just changing to Ecotricity as my energy supplier. With BG it was costing me around £2.70 and that would get me around 65-70 miles. When the new tariff starts next week it will cost around £1. The Ecotricity is 6.2 pence per KWH and is off peak only. I also have a free 22KW charger going in at work so the commute will be free - much better than paying company car tax and diesel
I plan on charging some leisure batteries I have off peak and using an inverter for electricity during the day. That way by daytime electric costs will be minimal!
Interesting to see this thread, I convinced my mum to buy a Zoe on a cheap PCP deal and I have a Nissan Leaf. She's ordered the new 150 mile range one but when fully charged it's showing only 65 mile range!
My Leaf has never dropped below 68 on the guess-o-meter no matter how cold or how fast I drove the day before. They are obviously unhappy/concerned that it won't be of much use for the couple of 50 mile round trip days as she doesn't want to be panicking about charge!
Will pre-warming/battery help to boost the predicted range? Never been an issue in my Leaf...

Little update, I reset the guess-o-meter on the Zoe (pressing the 2 buttons on the end of the indicator stalk) and that combined with a little warmer temps means when my mum switched on this morning it was suggesting 89 miles - much better than 60!
No change in driving patterns so not sure why it was so pessimistic. Will see what the next few charges suggest!
As for the poster above - I agree that these ranges suggested would put most drivers off and that's why at the moment I would be careful who I recommend EVs to. If you have sub 50 mile round trips then you'll be fine any more than that and I'd want folks to have a charger at their workplace to get rid of range anxiety!
Today I travelled 70 miles on a single charge (in Leaf) and 50+ miles of that was on the motorway at 55-70mph, with climate control on at 19, heated seats and my BOSE cranked up (not sure how many miles the subwoofer takes off my range!)
