BMW i8 insurance rant - who actually garages cars these day?
Discussion
The twonks at the BMW dealer said, and I quote, "We've got some great insurance products that should be [insert words that removed my concerns about the insurance on such a complicated car].
The official BMW Insurance insisted on the car being garaged overnight in a suitable locked garage. Plus a tracker and the usual stuff.
Who actually garages their car everynight?

Most modern garages are so small you could not fit a matchbox car in one.

I used to think the same but I'm in a new build house and the car fits in no problem. Padded section on the wall of course to protect the door when getting out.My garage is full if st
Keep it in the garage as another poster has already said to protect it from errant footballs, cricket balls, frisbees and anything else the neighbour kids can thoughtlessly propell at my car.
That and it doesn't need defrosting on mornings like today.
I have a shed for the things most keep in their garages and as for st, that goes in the bin. I'm not wasting valuable real estate on st just to leave my pride and joy on the drive.
I can get my MX-5 in the garage OK, but regular cars are so fat these days with all the side impact protection that it's a bit impractical. Like so many parking spaces, garages seem to be based off the dimensions of some 1950s runabout.
I also have a bit of carpet fixed to the wall to protect the car door. If nothing else, keeping the car in there forces me to keep the garage in some sort of order.
When I was a student in Bristol, our garage was broken into. It was a standard metal door and they pulled up the bottom and bent it upwards and outwards at the side locks. How no one heard this racket I don't know. I didn't have anything in there, but a couple of my house mates had their bikes nicked.

^^^ this. And the i8 is six and a half feet wide with gull-wing doors so I need a wide (prob double) and high garage just to fit it in. Besides, my garage is full of stuff that I really can't leave outside all year round... tools, camping stuff and a Ducati.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
