My company car is up for renewal so I have ordered a Mercedes C350E estate. It's a car I didn't even know existed until around a week or two ago. The performance figures are very impressive as is the 5% BIK tax. The only real downside is the lead time. I'm currently looking at a delivery next May .
Does anyone on here have one? If so what sort of mpg are you achieving? Personally I'm hoping for 50+

Ordered mine last month.
There are a couple of topics in the Mercedes thread, plus a lot of useful info here:

Thanks for the link. The mpg figures seem a bit low. I test drove a Lexus is300h with a 2.5 litre engine and managed 50mpg easily. I would have hoped the Mercedes with a smaller engine and plug in facility would have managed the same at least.
What delivery have you been quoted as a matter of interest?

My june order was supposed to be built last Sunday but is posponed a week. Should pick up 20th december I'm told...
I'll report back my fuel findings when I drive it. Although the first few hundred will be done with proper running in in mind which definitely won't help the mpg, but hopefully will pay dividends since I'm planning to keep it for 10 years at least.

What do you mean by proper running in? I have always just taken things easy for the first 1000 miles or so, avoided sitting at constant revs etc.. (Last couple of cars the dealer has told me not to worry about it, but I have still done it) I'll report back my fuel findings when I drive it. Same for me, saw one on the M3 motorway and thought 'What's that, a hybrid E class??'robemcdonald said:

From my reading, the rings need to be pushed hard onto the newly honed bores while honing is sharp enough to make them seal. Bottom end bearings shouldn't be overheated by long periods of high load.So I've always used full throttle in a few second bursts for the first few hundred miles across various bands of the rev range.
My fear when taking it easy is that the rings won't cut in properly leading to less performance and economy and potentially higher oil usage. Seems to work well for me, last car Peugeot 207 1.6 td was clean running and faultless at 130k miles when I sold it. No oil use and still good for quoted top speed and mpg.
But like oil choice, this is a subject where everyone seems to have their own idea and it's very hard to prove who if anyone is right.
With the hybrid system juggling petrol and electric, with relatively little influence over load, revs etc, is running in even something you can control?
And by the time you've got the car, it's been spun up on the dyno at the end of the production line (motorway speeds damn near instantly) anyway...

Yes all true. I'm just hoping that foot buried into the carpet will cause the engine to deliver 100% throttle, but definitely an unknown quantity for me! I've not been to the Merc factory to know, but Porsche engines are only spun up briefly to test using compressed air on the end of the production line before going into the car. Not a dyno in sight. And by the time you've got the car, it's been spun up on the dyno at the end of the production line (motorway speeds damn near instantly) anyway...
Today's big news is the car arrived at MB Grimsby this very afternoon, pictures expected any moment as they unload it from the truck.
This is pretty exciting really, so definitely on for collection on Saturday 19th. Looking forward to the end of a VERY long wait, will report actual figures when I have them. If anyone's passing MB Grimsby and they happen to see a Hyacinth Red / Cream C350e being prepared, please post a photo -- that's my car

Well done. Very jealous as mine is scheduled for May. I have found myself migrating towards MB garages when I have a bit of free time to see if anyone has one. So far no luck. In fact one dealer said there was only 12 in the UK (smells like BS) I am hoping the factory will get its finger out and speed up production a bit (I wonder what the delay is?)
I need to think about getting a charging point fitted. Has anyone done this? As I understand it you can only get the government grant up to March next year, but crucially it needs to be within 4 months of the car arriving. So something to look at in the new year, but advice would be appreciated.

Talk to an installer (such as Rolec) and they'll advise. My car's (i3 REX) still a couple of months away, but getting the L2 charger installed on Friday. The installer just wanted a letter from my lease company indicating I will be the primary user. I need to think about getting a charging point fitted. Has anyone done this? They are indeed. Unfortunately I wasn't able to change them and retain the notional 49 carbondioxides. Since I'm buying this with company cash I need the ultra low figure for the maximum subsidy and BIK.
Dealer was very strict on this.

Do I take it these are the 17's, and the 18's have been calculated to show they produce a higher CO2 figure?Dealer was very strict on this.
