My i3 was involved in a fairly minor accident and 8 weeks later I'm still waiting for it back . The body shop has said that parts availability is a nightmare and I myself have had to try and put pressure on BMW to chase parts through . Anyone else had similar issues ?

So driving carefully has now to include anticipating prospective accident situations ?

Of course we do this all the time but a wheel bearing, is only a wheel bearing ...

Accidents happen . Not sure I understand what you are trying to say but I was never very good at understanding pretentiously written drivel .

My issue is that the car has been off the road since the 9th June , primarily waiting for BMW to supply parts. You wouldn't expect to wait 3 weeks for a simple wheel bearing but i3 parts availability ( the wheel bearing is one of many issues) in my experience , is terrible . I posted to see if others had similar issues or if I've just been unlucky .

When accidents happen the parts required can be unexpectedly required, --- hence not normal stock items.

But a wheel bearing is only a wheel bearing, --- hence a prospective consumable / easily damaged item.

Pretentious enough for you ?

P.S. For clarity, I agree with you.

An engine mount sheared on my car, it took BMW just over a month to fix. The reason I was given was that no parts were held in stock and everytime they took something off BMW then decided that something else needed replacing. I personally think the dealer had very little experience with the car, even though it is an I dealer.

They also muttered something about always needing 2 people working on the car which apparently was a challenge.

when i had warrantee work done on mine last year, it was a parts supply nightmare there that caused the problem. 8 weeks for an engine loom (presumably 3 or 4 wires taped together...)
