I was considering an old classic car as part-time secondary transport - something for £5K - £10K. What I really fancied seems to have gone up 50% over the last year, so I was thinking about a modern-day alternative set of wheels. Bearing in mind I have a good set of solar PV panels on my roof I thought about an EV. Nissan Leafs seem to be cracking value but I wouldn't be happy with a pre'13 model with the unpracticalyl light upholstery and the non-heat pump climate control. A 2013+ version's out of my budget so I was thinking to myself about Mitsubishi I-MIEVs. Yes, I know they're small, the range isn't as good as a Leaf or Zoe and the interior's basic. But, has anyone here ever owned or driven one?
Perhaps rather optimistically I was thinking that by the time the battery pack craps out there'll be a better replacement that'll give it a better range.
There doesn't seem to be much on here about these little cars. I realise the Peugeot Ion and Citroen C-zero models are very similar, but I understand the I-MIEV is a better package so I wouldn't consider the French versions.
Views and opinions most welcome.

Had a C-zero at work. Cheaply made piece of rubbish.

Had a warning light come up on the dash and it wouldn't engage drive. We had to trailer it from Maidstone over to Essex as no one in Kent can work on them. Bear that in mind, check you've got a dealer local who can work on it.

I've driven an iMIEV - piece of crap in my opinion. Cheaply made, slow, low range. The Leaf and Zoe are a world away in every respect.
