Trying to get to grips with the i8 market.
I borrowed one from Williams Manchester for a decent test drive the other week, and was suitably impressed. When I made a brief enquiry a year ago, the lead time was 12-18months. Now they're quoting September/October this year for a car to my spec.
I've spoken with a couple of people within the car trade, and have been told to hold off just for the moment as there will be some good deals to be had come 3rd quarter. Looking at the nearly new cars on Autotrader & PH there are some hefty discounts already off the new price for a few months old low miles stock dealer cars!
Has the bubble burst already on these?
Anyone else been offered anything spectacular?
Any advice gratefully received!!
Thanks Graham

From what I know BMW upped production hence the premium drop as people can get them quicker now. I think an update is small coming soon too. This is vague tho.

I couldn't even bothered to wait and ordered a tesla p85d which as it turns out has taken 6 months anyway!!

With EV technology developing quickly and manufacturing costs falling, there will ALWAYS be a cheaper better EV on the horizon. If you wait for the next best thing, your end up waiting for ever. Just look at smart phones, as soon as Apple releases an iPhone, almost on the same day your find tech websites guessing at how much better the next version will be.

If your happy with the current tech, enjoy it, and can afford it, go for it. We're only alive once, and if your lucky enough to be in a position to spend money on things like i8s go for it, in 10-20 years time when eveyone is driving EVs, your still have the memory or been one of the early adopters to jump on board probably the biggest change in motoring since the internal combustion engine!!

Look at Tesla, 12 months ago people paid £50K for a car with a 60KW battery, no supercharging, and very basic spec. 12 months on £50K will buy you a 70KW battery, supercharging now included, and enough spec to mean you don't have to add any more 'options'. By next summer things will improve again - with aleast another 5% improvement in battery capacity for the same cost.
