Availability of the 5k free money
Discussion
I've ordered my C350e, paid a deposit and completed the daft gubmint "survey" and now the dealer says they'll know if I've been approved for the free money next week.
I thought the grant was universally available for approved cars (of which this is one), so is there any doubt?
Reading the website ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/plug-in... ) I see there is some clause about the car being built before the money can be paid, and that's fine, but approval wise am I likely to run into any trouble applying today for my December delivery?
Thanks in advance...

There is total confusion over this. Other forums are alight with differing views. I may be wrong but my reading of the new criteria is that the £ 5k Grant will not apply if 18" wheels are on the V5. 3 new categories apply - below 50g/km the C350e is ok but 50g/km to 75g/km the car has to be certified to be capable of 0 emissions for 20 miles and the C350e is certified for 19 ! The debate on other forums is when this criteria will apply. I think it has applied since April. See section 5 :-

As far as am aware there isn't any new rules yet - Any new criteria isn't going to apply until the 50,000 car quota is met, which probably wouldn't be till next year. Though EV sales are shooting up.
I saw something suggesting it was about to run out quite soon! But who knows? I expect there will be some announcements in the budget in a couple of weeks about its extension ( or not) wivenhoe said:

When did wheel size start appearing on a V5 document?https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/plug-in...

OLEV are expecting to hit the 50k this year. Awarded grants are at about 35k at the moment and seem to be rising exponentially.wivenhoe said:

All three of the new categories currently qualify for the £5k grant. Once 50k grants have been awarded (not far off now at current rate of uptake), a new grant scheme will be introduced - likely to have different grant levels for the three categories. As there's been a recent election, it seems to be taking OLEV a bit of time to get the new post-50k grant details thrashed out.https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/plug-in...
I wouldn't be at all surprised if we hear (not here) more today. I'm hoping for a big cutback in green subsidies across the board. The political will is emerging now as per the wind farm cuts announced recently.
As the extent of the AGW swindle continues to unfold we'll see more cutbacks, subject always to face saving of course for them all being such tools this past 20 years sucking it all up lol.
