Firstly let me say I'm definitely not an electrician!

I've got a leaf coming beginning of next month so have applied for a charge point to be installed by a company that seems to be recommended by many... although it seems they contract out to local electricians to fit. The bloke has been round to 'survey' the installation and today I have got an email from the company saying there is additional work beyond a standard install but no details of what is required other than it is going to be an extra £100 + vat... and it needs to be done before 12th april or it will be an extra £200 (due to the grant changing).

I have done a bit of research and it looks like the grant is for £900 with no specification of how this is spent... we have a 4 year old circuit breaker type fuse box with 2 RCDS and spare breakers (I think they are called 'ways'). There is definitely no need for more than 10m of cable so I am failing to see how it is a non standard install. When the bloke came round he said he was going to run it straight from the meter cupboard, which presumably means putting an RCD in there which, I'm guessing is what the £100 is for. I strongly suspect that this is the easiest way to fit it since it doesn't involve messing around with the exsisting fuse board, drilling through walls etc. I have no problem with it being fitted this way, but don't want to end up having to pay extra for the privilege of making it easier!

I can't get hold of the company to ask because they are shut now... anyone else had something simular??? What on earth can need doing that will make the install worth £1020!!
