As we are about to have one fully electric and one PHEV we really need two chargers at home however the free deal only allows one unit and the Zoe deal is really the free deal in that you cant have a Zoe one if you already have one. I have been quoted £850 for a 32A fitted but it grates a bit and before any suggests sharing I have no intention of the midnight cable swap routine. biggrin

Anyone wangled a second one? ay tips ?

Go to nuWorldEnergy and ask - you should be entitled to one charger per car. If not it will be more like £600 than £800 for the second one, fitted.

Can you not just use the 13a 3 pin mains charger unit for the PHEV? My outlander PHEV came with one of these and it can easily charge the car up from empty overnight. Using this you only need to get a normal 13a socket installed, possibly with a box located alongside to keep the charger in.

Yes we could but we won't always have a outlander (if we do go that route) I would be happier with two fast chargers if we can wangle it

Two 32A chargers? I'd check what the maximum load your supply can handle. You may have to do both charging overnight when nothing else is on in the house.

An electric car for us will only ever be for school run, shops, local bumming around as such the Zoe suits my partner, I like the idea of the outlander for my 10 mile (5 each way) commute but its overkill when a leaf would do it much cheaper - however if we go leaf we need a 3rd petrol car for emergency's and longer trips - its a conundrum but YES I am waiting to see what the new GX5 is like and if it hits GX4 prices.

Ok for info as long as you can prove you have 2 EV`s you can have 2 home chargers - we will have a 32A Type 1 tethered for the Leaf and we have a 16A socket for the Zoe

Now thinking a Type 1 tethered will be obsolete soon but if I have a type 2 socket I will need a lead at £150+ difficult one.

If you bought the cable, it would also open up the possibility of charging at street charging points.

I went with the 32A Rolec with a type 2 connector to try and provide some element of future proofing.

I have a type 2 to type 2 for the Zoe already, I can swap the tethered cable in future but for 2 years this will do, Nuworld have been a delight to deal with

Brilliant service from Nuworld, called 17th, emailed docs over, unit with installer on Monday and we can arrange a fit time - much better than BG!! thing is the guy at Nissan didn't know other installers could be used.

32Amp fitted without fuss, socket only so we can charge Zoe and Leaf from outside socket, the internal Polar one is 16Amp - Nuworld Energy without doubt the easiest route.
