Cables - Is an extension cable viable ?
Discussion
I read a thread on another EV site where the charge bay was in use, but the EV car managed to park in the next bay and used a long charge lead to connect up with. During the course of the day, the charge bay cleared and the EV car was still charging. Somebody drove through the charge bay and caught the cable pulling it out of the car and possibly the charger resulting in some damage.
Edit, just found the thread - https://speakev.com/threads/someone-damaged-my-cha...

Funnily enough tried to do this today, but it doesn't work on type 2. Have since found out that the 'charging lead' supplied with my i3 and Tesla (the type 2 to type 2, that you would use to connect to a tethered charger), whilst will plug into the plug that you would normally connect to your car, wont work even though it all plugs in nicely.
The reason it didn't work is the the 'CP' (control signal pin) is actually sunk further back into the plug head on purpose, to stop you daisy chaining cables together to make a longer lead. Therefor the car didn't talk to the charger, and charging never started.
Hope this may help someone who plugs a lead into a type 2 socket and wonders why the car wont see the charger!
