Outlander PHEV charging cable

Hi sorry for my ignorance here as I normally lurk on the classic car pages, a customer of mine has asked me to make him a charging lead for his Outlander as they are £300 at the dealers or £150 off the internet traders.
I told him there must be more to it than a bit of cable or everyone would be making them, I assume some sort of dongle or chip to make the car see it as genuine is built into it?
Can anyone shed any light on this and why dealers can try and rip off customers for £300 for a charging lead. Im glad my newest car is 38 years old and I dont have to do business with car dealers any more.

Mitsubishi do charge a ridiculous price for the cable. I understood the PHEV cable differs to the i3 and is the same as the Nissan Leaf. As you have said they are available for around £150 depending upon length but if you can make them up much cheaper I too would be interested. I do not think there is anything smart about the cables, just a case of the correct spec and connectors.
Got me thinking... the cable canr be expensive as its just a bit of 16A multicore. But what about the ends. Well the outlander needs a J1772 type1 connector, and it depends on where he wants to charge what the other end will need. You need a type 2 menenkes at public stations, to be future proof, or depending on what he installs at home another J17772 type 1.
A quick google and i couldnt find either end for less than £75 and given that you also need to but the cable and do some work,then this likes a steal...

£130 notes for a type 1 to type 2 connector.
This is what im most likely to go with... getting a 32A type 2 socket installed at home, should be able to charge anything from a Leaf to a Telsa overnight so fairly future proof. Though on my case its type to to type 2 as Im getting an i3.
If you find cheaper connectors let me know... as I still think £130 is too much for a glorified caravan connector with 3m of cable!
