I called up a dealer to arrange a test drive for the top of the range PHEV model, but they didn't have any in stock as they just sold the 2 they had in the showroom. Dealer said the PHEV is practically selling itself (when pushing about how keen pex prices were against new PHEV's).

Is that really true? are they that much in demand?

Great company cars but not sure I'd buy one against a diesel if it was for non company use.

We have two and I am very pleased with them so far.

Won't be so attractive next year so go for it.

BIK tax goes from zero to 5%

Which, given the relatively high P11D values of EVs generally, is significant

Not for PHEVs - they are all in 5% already.

Oh, in that case ignore my previous post. I don't know of any other way that a PHEV 'Won't be so attractive next year so go for it.'

If I have a decent end to my year in April I will look to get a Outlander on Contract purchase or outright purchase as I am sure lots of companies will be doing at year end so I think they will spike upwards March / April then drop back down again.

The other half just got one, fully loaded...

Lovely car, over new year we will be driving through Europe in it so I'll have a better idea..

Going from London to Paris to Belgium then off to the Netherlands...

At present a company can write off 100% of the cost which, my understanding is, will only be 50% next year. Plus I'm told the Gov contribution will cease.

It may still be a reasonable option for a company car over a diesel but for the private buyer not so good imo.

We have two on lease, I didn't want to buy the cars as in three years time they may be worthless? Technology moves fast and with this in mind I made the choice.

Also with diesel coming down in price, unless you're a real environmental aware person, there not worth the extra money imo.

The BIK is, I am told, going to rise next year.

Having said all that I'm very pleased with the car and cheap running costs.
