Renault to offer Zoe/Kangoo EV with included battery
Discussion
As mentioned in the Zoe finance thread, Renault are now going to offer the Zoe and Kangoo EV models with a battery purchase option. This raises the price of the standard Zoe from £13995 to £18443.
Personally, I think this is great news. I feel the battery lease was one of the worst things to happen to the EV market, putting people off ("But £75 buys me a lot of diesel a month.") and killing the used market ("Why do I keep having to pay £75 a month for a 3 year old car?").
Hopefully this means sales of the Zoe, which by all accounts seems like a great car, will pick up. I'll certainly consider one to replace my Leaf when the time comes.
On a side note, they've reduced the battery lease costs too. Hopefully that also applies to current owners.
