i3 owners - how is it going?
Discussion
My Rex is being delivered in the first week of January, mixed feelings about the looks still but know the theoretical brilliance outweighs that (along with massive cost savings). I am slightly regretting not choosing the BEV but reading through the i3/weather topic I think it was probably the best decision.
However I've been reading about many negative experiences on the facebook group which is a concern. Now I do know that people often only talk when they want to moan so I thought I would ask on here about how people are getting on? Many drivechain failures etc?
Car is silver with std interior, 5-spoke wheels and HK.

I don't have any presence on Facebook, hence only here.
I think the car is fab.
I do have an issue with charging from low tarrif electricity but the fuel cost is still only 3p per mile, and the car is a great talking point.
BMW may be being a little slow in resolving some of the issues, but look at their investment ...
I enjoy driving it every bit as much as I enjoy driving my Cayman R ... it is so very different. Hence my short journey car.

Just about to tip 10,000 miles in my BEV. Love it to bits! Still unbeaten from the lights
It really is great fun to drive and everyone who has been in it is amazed by the pickup.
Also, there are loads of places to get FREE FUEL!
I have had one issue with AC failing in the summer, but it was fixed by a software reset.

What are you paying for insurance on your i3?
No much... Less than £200 fully comp with protected no claims for a 40 something in rural Sussex. They must assume that EV drivers drive sedately!
For the OP: 6000 miles in and I still love my BEV (is there an echo in here?). Never once regretted not getting the REX. Only issue was a problem with restraint (airbag) system, but sorted efficiently by BMW.
I spoke too soon. She's gone in owing to an airbag / safety restraint system warning coming on every time I start up, and although I have not had a problem with the KLE (onboard charger) BMW are replacing it with the redesigned unit. I'm using their identically equipped REx while this happens.
Yes I also have the Airbag warning that's just started up.
The car is still great, I'm told the charging issue is a software fix so will have to be patient.
But I only use the car alternate weeks for short distances, hence will do the 6000 miles per annum that I planned, but not much more.
Insurance ? It's Company owned and at the time I took delivery nobody knew where to position the risk, and BMW do not insure company drivers ... come renewal time I hope that it will be the same as my Polo Bluemotion. For the moment, it is costing more than my Cayman R !!
