Tesla Model S taxis in Amsterdam
Discussion
Here in NL there are some pretty generous tax breaks for running an all electric car. So much so that many taxi companies are running them now. Two weeks ago a friend from the UK came to visit and we seemed to see quite a few. This weekend we travelled via Schipol and around half the cars at the airport taxi rank were Tesla Model S's. It was quite a sight - I'd have taken photos but it was too dark.
Is this happening elsewhere yet? I want to have a ride in one and see what the drivers think of them - even with a 500km range (is it so good?).

I watched a video on this the other day and they have 167 Teslas there working as taxis. It's a project in which Tesla is participating in as presumably they get a lot of people to experience their cars in this way. Thanks for that info - so they aren't all owned/run by taxi companies then. Is this the video you saw?

Yeah, that was it, I saw it linked on twitter the other day. Seems it's a collaboration between Schiphol, BIOS Group, the taxi company and Tesla.
I'm surprised that there aren't more taxi companies running fleets of EV's. There is a successful one in Cornwall called C&C who have 10 LEAFs and their own DC rapid charger. They've done 150k miles and reckon it saves them £40k per year in reduced fuel costs.
