I am in the process of purchasing an I3 Rex. Whilst I do not expect to have to charge the car publicly very often, and it doesn't have a rapid charge option, it would be handy to have the option as a back up plan.

From what I've seen there are a number of companies who offer charging, and I believe I have to register with all the different companies. Therefore is there a list of suppliers available and is it possible to do the equivalent of a Pay as you go ?

From peoples experience, are there any companies who are better than others ?

They are all pay as you go or free at the moment - best to sign up with all of them as coverage is still erratic and some of the points are old fashioned 13 amp or don't work .

I have cards from Ecotricity, Plugged-in Midlands and BMW ChargeNow

Some will depend on where you are, or where you are planning on travelling to. Definitely get the Ecotricity one as they seem to have the biggest network of rapid chargers (assuming you have ordered this option) and are currently free.
