I picked up an i3 last night. I must say I'm very impressed so far. I can't think of any negatives to be honest......
The demo car has a couple of faults (can't open the petrol filler flap, and the rear door is a bit temperamental) but it's all pretty good.

If the dealer didn't explain, you can manually unlock the fuel filler. Open the bonnet (using the button on the fob) and then at the top left (near the screen) there's a green tag with the fuel pump symbol on it. Pull that and the flap should open.

They didn't explain that, but I managed to find it (they've not left the owners manual with it either!)
It's stuck - it's not unlocking at the bottom. It's not a huge problem as its full.

Out of interest, do you get an error message on the screen when you try and press the fuel button on the inside (down in the right hand side footwell)?

I've got the manual uploaded to google drive if you haven't found it already online

Cheers for that, I hadn't found a copy of it yet. No error, it just doesn't open....

It's gone back now.... I was really, really, impressed. Far more than I expected to be.

I was offered the demonstrator for a good price, but I'd rather buy one with DC charge preparation... I know there isn't much infrastructure, but I think it would be better to have it than not. Having said that, if they come back with a good offer on monday, you never know.....

It's a fun car to drive and there's not many that have driven it and come away disappointed. It's just getting people into it that's the hard part. My dealer is using i3's to shuttle owners to/from work when they take their car in for a service which I think is a pretty shrewd idea. The driver does a good job of showing it's acceleration too.

Interesting that the demos are now available for sale. I know BMWi were holding them back at first but they must be at the point now where they can start shifting them on. Good luck with your negotiations, I wouldn't worry about not having DC charging, it's not that important with the REx (especially as fees are introduced) although others will probably disagree.

Hi Clarkey

Did your dealership give you any details of when the demonstrator would be available ? My contact has said that BMW have confirmed they can sell one of their demonstrators but BMW will decide which one and when !!

When you pressed the fuel door release button, what message did you get?

No message at all when releasing the fuel filler - the top of the flap released, but the bottom didn't.

Regarding the demonstrators, I believe they are all in the process of selling their demonstrators and ordering new ones. So I was told anyway! I won't reveal details on the one I'm considering until I know if I'm buying as I think it could be available for a relative bargain....

Do you press the "tank aeration" button? This vents petrol vapours before the fuller filler is unlocked.
