Mine was in the garage for 8 weeks having a restraint system error investigated and remedied. Parts availability is woeful. Hence the unreasonable delays for a relatively simple problem. Got a nice hire car from Bmwuk though. So not all bad

This is a surprise given that it's only just been released.

In the end it just needed a restraint system ECU. They also replaced the engine loom as a precaution. The thing that caused the delays was it going backwards and forwards between the garage and BMW in Germany. Don't let them mess about investigating the wiring because it wasn't the fault in my case

Make sure you send them a bill for the curtesy car fuel.

i got a servicing package thrown in to compensate for the fuel and they sent me a very nice hamper for the inconvenience. They dealt with it pretty well, tbh...

Excellent, makes a change to hear a positive dealer story. i3 will be my first BMW purchase so I'm keen to see what the service is like. It's been very good so far but that may be down to getting there hands on my cash.....

The dealer was benham Wolverhampton. I may as well name check them as they handled it as well as could be expected. An honourary mention to Bmwuk as it was them that actually sent the m5touring for 2 months, the hamper and paid for the service deal 😘 excellent all round.

BMW have ordered me a new restraint system ECU and wiring harness, and will fit it next week. I have been assured that the car is safe to drive - but in the meantime I will try not to test the airbag operation!
