My Leaf arrived today via Tusker and I am an instant convert to EVs.

Effortless to drive and so quiet inside. Single pedal mode is a game changer as well. Easy to deal with within minutes of turning it on and makes the brake pedal pointless.
How much did it cost you?

Yes, it has a Chademo and Type 2 connector. The Chademo are not so common now but there are still plenty available on the public chargers.

When you take into account that your fuel costs will now be almost zero and that cost includes insurance and maintenance, it's very hard to argue with it!

I am still toying with the SS leasing option.

Am I silly looking at PHEVs via this route? for example XC60 T6 Plus would cost be about £640 net - but £185 of that is BIK. Compared to something like a new Q6 which is £1318 gross and £618 net with £54 of that as BIK.

I suppose what matters is the end cost to me per month.

If it were me I would be considering running costs as well.

Unless you are going to run the hybrid on elec only then the full elec car will cost considerably less to fuel.

Based upon those two I would choose the Q6 as it’s a new model and the XC60 has been around a while. Personal preference though.

Always the bottom line. My car looks expensive when i see 690 come out of my gross salary each month but it's foolish to focus on that figure in isolation.

Yes. It is a very good deal when its one payment does it all. Insurance, maintenance, tyres, breakdown, etc. I have solar as well so can charge it off that although it is currently cheaper to charge it overnight on Octopus Intelligent Go at 7p and export the solar at 15p.

A full charge is about £2.60ish at 7p per unit and gives 150 indicated miles. However in reality its better than that as the regenerative braking charges it back up again. Yesterday we did 30 miles and the range only dropped by 10 for example.

One pedal driving is a revelation as well. You lift off and it comes to a stop itself. Reads the white lines on the road, senses the traffic in front, etc to work out how much braking to apply. No need to have a left leg at all smile

Am absolutely sold on the EV driving/ownership experience.

I'm being lazy as I expect this has been covered many times on this thread, but I've accepted a new role and they use Zenith as the SS provider. How do their prices stack up to other ss providers?

Not sure re Zenith. On the whole, they all seem quite pricey now. We’re Tusker and unless you go for one of their ‘in stock / coming soon’ options, the monthly costs seem to be well in excess of my car allowance. Doesn’t help when we’re forced to work the figures based on 18k miles pa!

Just emailed my employer to advise that WEF April 2025, a combination of VED being payable on EVs, plus the expensive car tax for any car (including EVs) over £40k list price, will likely increase lease prices by almost £50/month. I’ve asked them if they plan to increase the allowance to offset this.

The Tusker T&Cs already cover them increasing the monthly charge for changes in tax, so they will definitely increase monthly fees to existing and new leassors.

They will not increase the current numbers that are quoted, neither will they put a clear note on the quote page to say this is coming. They are a business and do not want to scare people away from signing up to new contracts.

Unless you're looking to max out your pension or similar then the gross cost doesn't really matter.
