I've also had an iPace as close to the top of my list if I was to go the EV route but I have to confess the continued bad publicity and poor experience of owners is a bit off-putting; are they really that bad or is it just unhappy owners tend to have more to say than ones who are satisfied? I'd be looking at a second-hand car from a main dealer (21 model or newer) but if the back-up is as bad as people are suggesting it sounds like the two-year warranty might not be worth the virtual paper it's written on.
As I'd want a hatch the other car that appeals is the Polestar so maybe I need to focus my attention more on one of those - or will I find they also suffer from a whole load of problems?!
The ones burned are always going to make more noise about a 'bad' car than the other 90% that never have a problem. I had one for 3 years, no issues other than a loose inner wheel arch cover and a boot strut. As I'd want a hatch the other car that appeals is the Polestar so maybe I need to focus my attention more on one of those - or will I find they also suffer from a whole load of problems?!
The added problem with the iPace is that the dealer network is so dire now that even tiny issues are a battle it seems.
That said, if you have a second car as a backup and you have the time to battle the dealer if there are problems, there is still no denying the extreme value and appeal of an iPace. I also expect in time many issues that currently require main dealer attention will be doable by third party indie garages, including battery issues.
Well, today the iPace life is over.
Car was collected today, and I must admit I was a little sad that it went but similarly am glad that I’ll never have to deal with the JLR network again. As I’ve said before, great car when working properly but riddled with faults and the dealer network is very poor.

OP here.
An update 9 or so months in to ownership.
We can finally charge to 100% again! Had a battery fault back in December, in for diagnostics in February and finally had the cell replaced this week.
Since December, we have been limited to 72% charge due to the fault. Actually, that hasn't been too bad for our usage profile but could see how it could well be a serious problem for others.
That said, the Jaguar Dealership/Repairs network is clearly under a lot of stress (and I'm being polite with that description). It shouldn't take three months for a diagnosis and a further four to get it in for the work to be completed.
Alas, that is what we have had to deal with. That said, it is still an exceptional vehicle and (despite the catastrophic depreciation) I don't regret buying it one bit and hope that the mechanical woes are behind us.
Interestingly, had a 23' plate courtesy iPace whilst it was in for a few days; some very obvious minor improvements to the overall package but not overwhelmed. Feels like a missed opportunity on perhaps, seeing how far other marques have evolved in the four years between that and ours.

You should get a payment from Jaguar based on how many miles you’ve done since the battery fault was recognised. I was told that it’s to cover the inconvenience of only charging to 72% and having to potentially charge away from home.Richtea1970 said:

I wonder how many times this must have happened for them to have written a policy for this scenario?EddieSteadyGo said:

I wonder how many times this must have happened for them to have written a policy for this scenario?A 290,000 mile i-pace for £11,000 here, but sold as "for spares or repairs". I wonder what state the battery is in?

think they're only saying that to provide no warranties etc., nothing to suggest the car's not working ok.https://www.carshop365.net/used-jaguar-i-pace-ship...
looking at the dash it's showing 77m with just over 50% charge -- this is a fair bit lower than mine would be showing at that SOC. I'm still getting 250-260m on a full charge

It's obviously very tricky to assess that gamble... But odds on chances that there's a possibility to buy a dirt cheap luxury, 400hp and crazy high torque AWD and get it sorted later in for not a lot of £ are probably quite good! Of course, you have to be able to afford to lose with a smile on your face to take such a chance!
What a sad and conflicting story the wonderful iPace has become. What to do with these excellent cars in light of stty dealership backup and an uncertain future...

Some people. That's the problem with forums, happy people don't post how good their car is, or not so often anyway. If you went solely by info on forums you wouldn't buy a Porsche, an Aston Martin, Alpine etc either. For what it's worth, 2 years on, mine has been faultless and seems as well screwed together as Audis, BMWs and Porsches I have had.
Now that's the kiss of death.....
