This. The battery warranty lasts 8 years/100k, regardless of how many owners it's had.
So Cheshire Oaks seem to think the battery warranty only lasts as long as the first owner has the car? From my experience with Audi, I wouldn't trust a word they say unless it's in writing from Audi UK.
Yep, the guy I spoke to gave the example of even a 6 month old e-tron on the approved used would only have it's "vehicle" warranty and the batteries would have nothing if an issue was to come up with them.So Cheshire Oaks seem to think the battery warranty only lasts as long as the first owner has the car? "The batteries for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) are warranted against all defects in materials and workmanship for eight years or up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first from the date of handover to first customer (or date of first registration, whichever comes sooner)"
https://www.audi.co.uk/dam/nemo/uk/Owners-Area/War...
Maybe the confusion is in the wording "from the date of handover to first customer"?
The demo car was registered when he dealership took it.

He's clearly an idiot.
Good to know! That was my only real concern about swapping to one after hearing stories of £20k+ battery replacements (if needed).Any recommendations on spec level/features to look out for etc? Fairly new to Audi so going to look at a couple on the weekend to see the difference between Technik, S Line etc.

Mine is a basic Technik model with no options, and its pretty much got everything I'd want anyway. Full leather, electric/heated front seats, digital dash, Apple Carplay, electric tailgate and basic cruise control. Even the base model comes with Air suspension as standard.Any recommendations on spec level/features to look out for etc? If you can stretch to a 55 model, I'd say its worth-while just for the additional range. My 50 is currently doing 175miles to a charge at 13-16 degrees outside temp.
As an aside, what really pisses me off is with the options available on the car. Adaptive cruise for example. In normal day-to-day driving the car will automatically begin to slow down when it detects the car in-front slowing down or the speed limit changes to a lower one. However, as soon as you turn cruise control on this function stops working! So the hardware and software is already there for adaptive cruise, but they disable the function unless you've ticked the option box! Same thing for the adaptive headlights too.

Think I'd look for a 55, still undecided on the "normal" or sportback as the dog will be in the boot but he's only small. I like the look of the Black Edition but they seem to command a fair premium for what's esentially a dechrome (as I understand).

I could be tempted. As a second car it wouldn't do more than 120 miles in a day so no need to be efficient.
They are rather large, which is good and bad. I didn't realise all cars had air suspension, I assume the ride is very good?
That's my usage pretty much and the range has never been a problem. It did drop to 130ish when it was freezing though, just something to be aware of.They are rather large, which is good and bad. I didn't realise all cars had air suspension, I assume the ride is very good?
The ride is VERY comfortable, especially on the smaller 20" wheels which are the basic ones. It's just very smooth and relaxing to drive in general to be honest. I still think it's a fantastic "daily" car.
Very comfortable
Cheap to run
Well made inside
Loads of interior/boot space
More than enough performance for a car this big

I was of the opinion only the S-Line and above came as standard on air suspension, and it was optional on the others. They are rather large, which is good and bad. I didn't realise all cars had air suspension, I assume the ride is very good?
The 50 models have a 65kWh battery so 120 miles might be touch and go at motorway speeds in winter if you want to leave a bufffer?

Like I said, 55 would be worth the extra outlay in my opinion, just for the range. The extra 100bhp being a bonus of course!

Nope, mine is the absolute basic you can get and has Air Suspension. It is standard fit on all models.

Does yours have the adjustable ride height for different driving modes? Our 55 Black Edition had it but don't remember seeing it on the Technik loaner we had for a couple of days and the ride didn't seem quite as cosseting.Like I said, 55 would be worth the extra outlay in my opinion, just for the range. There are probably - or soon will be - some enterprising companies that can restore those functions. Reversing "disabled" features like hill-hold has been going on for ages.

I've just been reviewing the SQ8 e-tron. Quite shocked at the price of these new and what you have to option it with to get some very basic things. For instance, no USB ports in the rear, and they only come as part of an additional £2,500 option pack. Which, oddly enough, also includes two other things that I would have thought might have been standard on a car with a 6 figure price tag.......
And given the depreciation of them, I am reminded of a saying we used to have in the car trade about Vauxhall Senators when they were new - if only they made them second had from new....

If anyone is still interested, it looks like Audi have some more E-trons through with the 2-year warranty and free home charger.
Figures range between £270-300/month with £1,000 deposit over 4 years. This is for a 2020/2021 model.
I've had mine 6 months now and as a daily it's absolutely fantastic. I'll be picking up another one when my PCP term is up in 12 months.
Hell of a lot of car for the money.
