If you have given Octopus your zappi log in details then it is controlling the charger instead of your car. If you first gave them the log in details for your car but then gave them your zappi log in details, then you have effectively replaced the car with the charger on the IO system. You can’t have 2 devices on it. Octopus force the Zappi to Eco+ mode. If you change the mode to fast, Octopus will switch it back to Eco+ in about 10 seconds. If you go into the octopus app and turn off smart charging, you can then change zappi modes.
A-ha! I saw that happening actually. Just to confirm, the only way to turn off smart charging is to do bump charging right?Although I doubt you'll ever need to bother.
Hi all,
Stumbled across this in a google search - so apologies if this has already been asked / answered.
I have a Podpoint charger (installed a couple of years ago for a previous EV), and am with Octopus (formerly on the Octopus Go tariff). I changed jobs and went back to an ICE vehicle, so moved off Octopus Go back to their std, tariff.
I am about to take delivery of another EV company car, and am looking at whether I can sign up to Intelligent Octopus. The car will be a MY2024 Polestar 2 (SMLR), and according to the Octopus "checker", I can't sign up to Intelligent - is this correct?
Thanks

Hey all!
Smart meters installed yesterday and they appear to be working and transmitting. In your experiences, how long until they start sending readings to Octopus i.e. show in the usage section of the app?
Looking to change to IO asap as the EV arrives tomorrow, and don't appear to be able to do it until (a) the EV is here (b) the meters are fully operational.
I'm just trying to manage by own expectations here as it takes as long as it takes. Up to 14 days seems a long time though!

You have to have either a compatible car or charger. The podpoint isn't compatible and I don't think the Polestar is either, so you cant aign up to IO. However Octopus do add cars from time to time, or you can buy another charger that is compatible.Stumbled across this in a google search - so apologies if this has already been asked / answered.

It took about 3 days for the numbers to appear in my app, from memory. And yes, you need the car and charge already there and ready to go as it needs to do a test charge to finalise the sign up.Smart meters installed yesterday and they appear to be working and transmitting. Maybe off topic but I follow this topic as I was an IO user. Switched to Agile a while back and for my usage patterns it's been working out pretty well. Obvs we've enjoyed some especially low rates over the last few months and things are returning to normal but this month's bill demonstrates IO is not necessarily right for all EV users.
Average cost was 8.7p kWh; 217 kWh went into the car while I squandered the rest on lighting and cooking.

For those who benefit from out of standard hours low rate electricity I was wondering if I could kind of beat the system (I’m sure I’m not the first to think of this)
I have a Tesla and recommended daily charge is 80%.
I get my 80% from an overnight off peak charge - I’ve set the car and octopus app to charge to 80%.
Next day, car is left plugged in, but I’ve raised the octopus charge to 100% to trigger octopus to generate the charging times in the app. However my car is restricted to 80%.
Might intelligent octopus give me additional out of hours low rate charging because it thinks, as per the app, that I’m going to need more charge even though in reality my car is still set to maximum 80%. Or will it suss me out
Not sure I’ve explained this well!!

Is it not the case that the extra charge hours only benefit the house when the car is actually charging during each half hour extra spell? That's how I understood it. Bonus if I've got it wrong.I have a Tesla and recommended daily charge is 80%.

Although I am not sure the system above will work. I suppose it all depends on whether IO reads the states of charge from the car. It does with our Enyaq.

thats what I am worried about, I am still on Go, I have charging time set on the Tesla so never use any app dishwasher, washing machine and emersion heater are also set to run during the cheap rate

The app said that tonight's schedule would be available when I plugged in to charge... car was still plugged in though from last night.
I unplugged the car l, and plugged it in again, then the schedule appeared in the app.
The car doesn't need charge tonight and neither are we going to use much electricity but I thought it was odd not to see a schedule.

It only comes up with a schedule when you first plug it in. After that schedule has expired, you will have to unplug it and plug it in again. I unplugged the car l, and plugged it in again, then the schedule appeared in the app.

It all seems very complicated compared to my current tracker tariff?
Can you simply set things up to charge between 11:30 and 5:30?
Is it possible to set it to charge to 100% each time? I often have days when I need the full battery due to 200+ mile days.
Yes you can set to charge whenever you wish - but why only between the guaranteed cheap hours? Can you simply set things up to charge between 11:30 and 5:30?

If there car is plugged in and needs charge, it'll charge at cheap rate any time there is cheap rate available - I'm addition to the fixed cheap rate hours.
Once its setup, you don't have to do anything - other than remember to plug your car in...

So to get the most out of it, it’s worth plugging in as often as possible?
In addition to the 11:30 to 5:30 slot, typically how many additional cheap rate hours are there during the day?

I've been on it for over a month and have been getting around 12 hours a day for most days, although the car doesn't use most of it. So to get the most out of it, it’s worth plugging in as often as possible?

To be honest, the whole setup seemed complicated before I got the car, but it couldn't be further from the truth - once registered for the tarrif, just plug it in!
If you need to charge outside of the scheduled hours, just press Bump charge.
I just took this screenshot. It had already passed through a 2030 to 2100 slot, as well as slots in the AM.
