New Company Car Ordered - Audi Q4 e-tron 40 S Line

Ok so today was collection day.
Three trains down from Staffordshire to Newbury and a short stretch of the legs up to the showroom to be greeted by the car outside.
I actually walked past it first as the colour was not as bright as I thought (although it was a bit overcast) and I thought the one to my left as I headed towards the showroom was black
A great hand over from Jeremy at Newbury Audi and a good tour of all the gadgets and gizmos plus a well needed cuppa.
Headed off around 3pm for the 150 mile drive home which I knew would be a slowish one with it being a Friday afternoon/evening.
An accident on the M40 saw me nip across the A43 (again really slow) to pick up the M1. All told the journey was 3 hours and 143 miles.
Got home with the car showing 88 miles of charge remaining. (it was 273 when I left the dealers) which I think it pretty decent. Temperature was 2-5 degrees C for most of the journey and I had the AC and my heated seat on.
Really pleased with the car overall, its comfy, really well equipped and looks great. The few options I had were worthwhile especially the adaptive cruise which was a god send in motorway traffic.

I did 83 miles today, about 34 miles on motorway, the rest on A roads. AC and heated seat on like you had, temp was 4-7C today and even with gentle acceleration, keeping car in efficiency mode, sticking to a few mph under the speed limit, I struggled to eventually reach 2.5 m/kwh, for most of my journey it was 2.3 m/kwh.
So, with a usable battery of 77kwh and consumption of 2.5 m/kwh, that's 193 miles of range from a full battery, and given I don't like to let the car go down below 20%, this car in today's conditions, will give me 154 miles of range between charges, assuming I charge to 100% each time.
This weather is tough going to get the batteries up to temp, issue with all EV so you have this parasitic heating energy use, base of my battery is constantly cooled with air and cold rain aswell. My IPACE has been doing 3.0miles/kWh pretty easy over summer but today 25miles each way to national trust place was 2.4m/kWh.

I sat in one of these recently abs really rated it, sadly my CC scheme only had the ID3 a d having driven 300 miles on Friday alone, I’m ready for electric but electric isn’t ready for me (and no I can’t have a Tesla)
What sort of driving are you using it for? As in are you a rep or is the car just a perk?

Tim, I've just read through your posts, my Q4 was ordered the same week as yours and is now due to be built week 21 next year so will be lucky to see it before July......how did you wangle yours so quickly?!

Efficiency is so so, worse than my friend's Model 3 Dual Motor.
In 800 miles over the past month, I've gotten 2.8 miles/kwh.
My best was 3.9 miles/kwh but that was a whole day at 5C with the climate control off, in efficiency mode, driving at 55mph behind trucks on the motorway and acclerating super gently. I wanted to minimise charging stops on a very long day of driving. It doesn't seem to charge anywhere close to 125kw, even when at a low state of charge. The best I've got is about 46kw.
This week, doing 15+ miles in each trip in and around London, I'm barely getting 1.9 miles/kwh with the climate control on and efficiency mode on.
I'm so looking forward to handing mine back in a few weeks. I'm glad I got the chance to try it out, but it's not something I would want to live with. My main complaint with driving it is that the ride is too firm and bouncy (S-line) and whilst it's nippy around town, the acceleration is a bit lacking at motorway speeds, imho.
Thanks, I'm glad I'm having the heat pump, should help, although I know it won't get near Tesla efficiency. Ride should be better on the sport too. Charging curve does seem v disappointing. I think I'll get an easy 3 miles/kWh out of it and will be happy with that. That's approx 230 miles.....for a car rated at 316 miles no wonder so many are going to be so disappointed.

My car was ordered from a dealer that had some cars already specced and in the system so it was not a new order placed to my spec.
Luckily the spec I found on the dealer's list was more or less perfect so the delivery time was much shorter.

Yes its a really nice place to spend time.
I am based around 50 miles from my office but only tend to go there once maybe twice a week.
The rest of the time I will be working from home or seeing customers.
Annual mileage will probably be around 15k so I think the Q4 will be perfect.

Hi,In regard to the ride, have you had a play around with the Drive Select. I have found that in Dynamic its a bt harsher but as my other car is an Abarth Biposto I really like it like that.
No issues with the acceleration from me. Cannot recall if you are running a 35 or a 40 ?

Yes, I've tried all the modes. They are all too firm and bouncy for my liking. I guess it depends upon what you are used to and what your preference is. Given how crap the streets are in and around London, my preference is for a very smooth ride over handling. In regard to the ride, have you had a play around with the Drive Select. I have found that in Dynamic its a bt harsher but as my other car is an Abarth Biposto I really like it like that.

I'm running a 40. Yes, acceleration is competent, but I notice the difference at higher speeds, especially when compared to faster EVs or faster ICE vehicles.

So the first long drive in the Audi Q4 e-Tron yesterday. Report below for anyone considering the move to all electric.
A trip to Carnforth and back taking around 4 hours and covering 227 miles.
Leaving home this morning after pre-heating the car the range was shown as 246 miles.
Arriving at the Booths supermarket in Carnforth the remaining range showing was 117 miles (47%).
Having already scoped out charging points last night in readiness and finding the two chargers in the car park empty I plugged in. 30 mins charge gave me 93 extra miles and cost £10.20. Meeting over and headed home to get back with 70 miles remaining (25%).
Average speed for the whole journey was 56mph which was very impressive for a Friday. To charge the car at home tonight will cost £9.88 so total cost for todays trip of 227 miles is £20.08.
A diesel Audi Q5 (approx same size) averages 44mpg (at 56mph) and the average price of a gallon of diesel is £6.78 would mean the same journey in a ICE car would cost £34.98.
Really pleased with the car and so far it’s definitely the future.

My old colleague is having one of these delivered today, she said most people who are due a car at the company (6k odd company car drivers) are having one as it appeared on the list last year, when I was there car of choice was the 330e. Most people there opted for them for the tax saving.
Company incentives means she has gone from a diesel A class SE to one of these, she as you can imagine is over the moon!

I changed jobs in June last year so unfortunately the Q4 went back when I left my role.
I enjoyed my time with it and it was a great car (as a company car).
