That boot’s too small - for my wife and daughters anyway. Even smaller than the iX. My xc90 is over 700l so may have to see what the Embla is like, though I don’t really want 7 seats
Agreed. How have they only managed 38litres more than the 2? Really wanted the boot to be much bigger but that boot size isn't a patch on my current Skoda Superb sadly.

I wonder why they’ve gone with Bowers & Wilkins for the audio?

All looks great, though I’d have liked/expected a bit more boot capacity.
Whenever I need a lot of boot space, e.g. for bikes or furniture, I just fold the rear seats down.
Indeed, but we do find the boot on the P2 on the small size for weekend getaways with four occupants. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a much larger, more expensive car to reflect that in both passenger space and luggage capacity.

It's Chinese centric, so boot space considered far less important than rear space/legroom. Going to be a common complaint going forward I'd suggest.

They may find journeys more comfortable in the cabin wink

Small boot; high price frown

Such a shame. Are manufacturers trying to price people out of private ownership? Unless depreciation is massive (which would increase the PCP monthlies), this won't even be affordable to second hand buyers in three years time.

Well I have just packed the xc90 to return the eldest to university today and the boot’s a bit full on that, so polestar 3 is not going to work:

For me it would be a question of how often would you need the additional space and what's it worth to you?

Would a roofbox for the occasional trip not fit the bill? Should be able to get a lot of the stuff pictured into a decent sized one I'd have thought?

We've currently got an etron, and whilst the space has come in handy on occasion I'd be happier with a smaller car for most daily duties as just makes life easier. Not sure the wife agrees though. smile

Exactly - we don’t all drive vans because twice a year we need to move large objects.
Likewise, we don’t drive around in a limo because our kid Jimmy has a prom once a lifetime.

Own / lease what you need for 90%+ of driving needs and rest can be sorted through other arrangements.

That Cactus box would fit in the front boot tongue out

I think the point is more that it's a big car, hence IMO it should have a boot that reflects that. The ratio of rear legroom to luggage space is becoming skewed IMO.

We don’t need a lot of space for just two trips a year. It is 10+ trips a year - and this week we are staying overnight for a couple of days and we are having to walk 20 minutes to a car park as it is. A van would be just about impossible to park here. Anyway, maybe the Volvo Embla will have a big boot - or I might ace to go back to land rover (if they ever get round to building an EV before I run out of money)

Probably because that’s the premium sound system that goes into Volvos. To be fair my V60 Polestar Engineered has the B&W sound and it’s brilliant.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the B&W stuff is / was actually Alpine internals. Not to say they're not good, on the contrary they're excellent.

I know we're generally not crossover/SUV fans here, but I think this looks great.

I think it looks like a rather unimaginative SUV of which the market is stuffed with. But then I’m not in the market for this sort of car, even if it’s pretty much all the industry is interested in.

As above I assumed a P3 would likely replace my P2 in a few years.
But a slightly bigger boot, and slightly more rear legroom, does not justify the massive cost jump. I'll keep my P2.

I expect there will rather more to it than slightly more space. It's based on the new XC-90 platform for starters, whereas the P2 shares with the XC-40. A more upmarket interior and bigger battery for more range also on the cards along with talk of a 600hp version. It appears to be an etron rival, whereas the P2 rivals the Q4.

Be interested in seeing more details as they are released

Not sure if it’s confirmed yet, but it’s strongly rumoured to have 800V architecture too.

Yep, so should offer a decent jump in charging speeds as well.

The XC40 recharge is essentially a P2 with slightly more space, the P3 is ia totally different thing from the look of it.

The P3 battery is significantly larger than the P2 - 111kWh vs 78kWh, a large portion of the higher cost will be from this.

Polestar calls the 3 a Cayenne rival and judging from the sloping rear back they're going for a more sporty vibe than practical hence that small boot (if those pre launch figures are correct).
Still rubbish though.

That'll be in the top end model though I'd imagine, I can't see them fitting a battery of that size to all of them? I can see a top of the range 600hp example with 100+ kWh battery costing double that of a P2 DM at around £100k. based on likely size it's a BMW iX rival rather than iX3.

Depends on how you define practical? Big boot or interior space as discussed previouly.

The larger battery is in the one we are talking about - Re: referencing the higher cost.
Obviously the lower cost models will have a smaller battery, but the spec and price of those hasn't been announced yet, so we aren't talking about those.
